Yep, it was a good time (and as BowlZ mentioned, this band was half the organizational headache that most bands seem to be). My favorite part was actually sitting down and working out a path, and then looking at BowlZ's path (and Deschain's, earlier in the rivalry), and seeing how each of us did. Sometimes I ended up writing up my best path or his best path straight up, sometimes I found some way of taking elements of both paths and combining them into some kind of mutant superpath, but either way I felt like it was better than the pathing I've done in the past.
It was also a new experience having pressure on me to actually be good at bass. I'm pretty sure we could have called ourselves "<-- Better Than This Guy" given the skill gap between me on bass and everyone else on their instruments. That and I need a new guitar :-)
At the risk of sounding generic, thanks to my bandmates, and our occasional last-minute subs, but most of all thanks to PMI and the PawnZ for making me nervously check this thread every Monday night wondering if our efforts measured up. I was often impressed when we were simply outplayed, or surprised to find out I missed something important while pathing, and that's the sort of thing I really expected from doing this, as a spectator in the past. _________________

Congratulations!!! I'm glad new bands are experiencing the awesomeness that is the DLC rivalry. |

A few more happy thoughts on the rivalry....
- Dropping the mic while doing karate moves during I Can't Keep My Eyes Off of You
- Cursing profusely at Magnetic Baby's 2/* vox activation (Yep, it's my fault.)
- Sitting in an airport watching YouTube vids of Tribute vox on my phone and trying to figure out that middle part for the following day's run (Um, yeah, I'll never see these people again anyway. What time zone am I in?!?)
- My bandmates in perfect harmony for the intro to Somebody to Love
- Having someone in my household inadvertently reset the router 2x during Red Devil (Apologies again, guys! At least each time was near the beginning of the song and we switched to our 'fun' characters!)
- Killing two consoles in the span of nine weeks (Well, I guess that's not really a happy thought.)
- Gaining a better understanding of full band vox end squeezing (Oops! That didn't quite fill...)
- Friendly competition with my buddies in both PMI and Pawns. You guys rock!
- The opportunity to jam with three amazing bandmates and several fantastic subs.
With our various schedules, jobs, travel, etc., it was often a challenge to find a convenient time for everyone for just two songs a week. Hats off to the numerous established full bands out there who path & play regularly.
Thanks again for the last-minute invite, guys. I really hadn't planned on participating in this, but it turned out to be a ton o' fun! |

Nice job Them Again and congratulations. Also congratulations to all those bands that stuck it out to the end this season. It seems harder and harder after every season to get bands that want to do the whole thing. _________________

Final Season 4 Leaderboards After 9 Weeks of Dlc Whoring on the Mean Streets of Scorehero:
1. Them Again (101)
2. Porno-Music Inc. (91)
3. Harmonix Pawns (71)
Congratulations to Them Again for winning this season with amazing scores every week! Congrats to PMI for coming in second and also putting up great scores. I'd also like to thank everyone who participated in this rivalry, making this consistently the best rivalry on Scorehero.
So for brainstorming, are there any changes you guys would like to make for the next season of this rivalry?
I know that sometimes it's tough to get 4 people with different schedules/time zones together week to week. What if we had 4 songs every two weeks? We could still have only 2 songs due every Monday, or we could have all 4 due every other Monday.
Is the method of song choice working for everyone? I like the 1 team picked and 1 random, but we could have either 2 team picked or 2 random songs every week instead (although the amount of teams and dropouts can effect this).
How about scoring? It seems to work pretty well, but it is tough for a team to catch up if they fall behind early.
Any ideas on how to stop people from quitting (especially when they don't even post why)?
Would shorter seasons be better (5 weeks?)?
That's all I can think of for now, so Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) to everyone! _________________

I think the season should be shorter. Cut the weeks in half. If there are a lot of bands, they should share the songs for the week and get rid of the random song for that week. _________________

I think JCirri should put this rivalry on the announcements because it's so well-run and is basically the only thing we have left to even compare to leagues. In short, more people should join this rivalry! Also, I think 2 randoms every week instead would keep it fun and surprising, since there is now almost 1000 DLC songs out now, (nevermind TB:RB DLC, and LRB). |

It's certainly well-run, but there were what, 4 bands that made it past the first week? Front page support would help, I just kinda doubt it would happen, or result in enough signups that stick it out.
Although, I think if the rivalry incorporated the Rock Band Network when it came out, that might drive up some interest. HUGE amount of songs, most brand new and not picked over. _________________

Then this rivalry would most likely be isolated to 360, blocking out all other systems. Ps3 is getting some, but not nearly as many as 360 will have, and then wii gets 0.
A big problem with this I think frankly is anything spanning over a long period of time (10 weeks) always begins to lose interest to people, no matter what it is. If maybe this rivalry was shortened to 5 weeks with 4 songs a week. Doing 4 songs a week i think would remove some of the grind of playing for a few thousands points since now you would have to do it twice as much, and at least for me, I didn't like doing it with two songs, let alone 4.
I don't know exactly how it would work out. Just an idea.
Could possibly make it more tournament-eque, that way each band is competing against one other band, so maybe that will spark more long term interest to see how far your band can get instead of playing songs week after week with a point system. A quick idea would be play one or two weeks normally and make seeds based on the scores for those songs played, then do a tournament for however many weeks. Doing that also makes it more like the leagues we once had.
Again, these are just ideas that popped in my head as I was typing, so if anyone else has any better ideas or ways to add onto these ideas, post them. I would like to see a lot more seasons of this. |

I didn't think of that! Chalk it up to my 360 bias.
I do agree with you in that fewer weeks would hold attention, though I think a big problem is having 4 people's schedules match up in that week period. Maybe it should still be 2 songs, but shorten the overall number of rounds to 5, and increase the round time to a week and a half/two weeks?
That favors grinding, though, and I like your idea about having just the right mixture of songs and (lack of) time to force a band to get it over with. Awesome as that sounds, I think some band will find the time to grind out excellent scores, and then another band will say Well Shit, Now We Have To Because We Want First. _________________

Would there be any interest in starting up another season soon with any and all changes people think would make it more competitive? |

I'd be interested. Could maybe convince one of my bands to join too, more bands the better. _________________
