Leaderboards:
1. Don't Call Me Shirley - 102 points
2. No Nonsense - 95
3. Interrobang!? - 86
4. Harmonix Pawns - 54
5. Mary Go Round - 23
6. Lost in Wal-Mart - 22
7. Forever in Debt - 0
7. BKING's Band - 0

This is a friendly rivalry for full bands that are either DLC whores, or bands that have no problem purchasing 2 new songs a week. We all love playing DLC in Rock Band, but with so many songs, it's tough to be competitive except for seeing who can sightread the best. This rivalry was started to bring together all the best DLC bands on the PS3 and 360 to see who can reign supreme.
*new stuff* Btw, for any Wii players, I'm not going to go out of my way to limit DLC to only those available for the Wii. However, with this seasons new song pool, and the growing list of DLC available, you'd probably be able to play every song we see this season.

"Rules"
*new stuff* At the begining of the season, all the participating teams will select 20 dlc songs that haven't been played yet in the previous 2 seasons. A kind of song draft has been discussed, but I think that it might be easier to just post your 20 songs, first come first serve. If someone ninja's your song choice, as they posted first, you must choose a new song, so be prepared. During the season, each band can have a total of 5 new song choices to add to the song pool. Once 2 songs from a band have been played in this season's Rivalry, other songs from that band will be removed from the song pool.

Two songs will be played each week. To chose the week's first song I put all of the songs from the DLC song pool into random.org's list randomizer and the first song is the one we play. The second song each week will be picked and posted by the scheduled team on Monday night. If the band has not posted their song 24 hours after the random song was posted, a second random song will be chosen for that week. Once the sign-ups are closed I will put all of the bands into the randomizer to decide the order. Teams should try to plan their song ahead so there isn't a delay for the new song each week.

The songs must be performed in a full band during that week of the competition. If a band member cannot perform with the band, replacements are acceptable, but it's appreciated if the change is noted. Pictures of the results screen must be posted in this thread for proof of score. Everyone generally seems to wait until late Monday night (11:50pmEST) to post their scores, but you can post your scores beforehand if you want. Deadlines are lenient, but try to post a score before midnight PT. If the band cannot get together the week of the rivalry, they can post a score later on for 1 point.

i dont know how long the unofficial leagues are running and this post may be irrelevant, but i know there are several people taking part in that that i think would be competing in this also. Don't you think we should wait for that to end? That way people are not swamped in this and unofficial leagues not to mention non SH related things that might be going on.

I'd really like to get in on this. I'll have to talk to CHawk and Kratos about it, and see if we can find another member to fill out Forever in Debt.

I'm still interested in Forever in Debt. We just need to find another vocalist.

This Saturday is end of round 3. Round 4 then will end on May 2nd. Leaving the second round of playoffs over by May 16th. That means only 2 teams will be left in from May 16th until May 23rd, and then officially over May 23rd. (There may only be 4 teams in playoffs leaving it over May 16th.) So I think May 18th should work out okay.

shoot, couldnt save the third slot for pix. guess this one will suffice

EDIT: PS: BigZ, you should post up the songs we have used in the previous seasons, I know someone was keeping that info in the second post of season 2, may have to be updated a week or two. just so everyone new knows what songs cant be picked. also, if we played a "cover" or a "secondary" version of a song, is the other version unavailable for play (i.e. we had Working Man (Vault) chosen, can someone choose Working Man (cover)??) [i may have it backwards, but you catch my drift]

Two thoughts on picking songs for the pool:

1. We should set a deadline about a week before we start to pick the songs; we don't want it to be a wait-athon where people try to be the last team to make their choices.

2. On the other hand, if teams are new or uncertain if they're going to be participating, aka you don't have your full lineup, etc. etc. - then you shouldn't pick early, either.

Edit: BigZ - so the rule is that an unlimited number of songs from a certain band can go in, but once we've actually drawn 2 of those songs from the randomizer then we take the rest out?

Not a bad idea, though I'd prefer it if everyone just posted right away without waiting. If we were to have a deadline, we may need some penalty if they don't make it (though I doubt anyone would wait that long). Perhaps they could lose some of their song choices? Also, if a band signs up late, maybe they could just have a week to post the 20 songs.

Regarding the edit, yeah, that's the rule we discussed at the end of the last season. It makes sense that with a total of only 20 songs, one band shouldn't represent more than 10% of the songs played. So if 2 songs from a band do come up, then any other songs from them in the pool will be removed.

Crazy, sorry about that, I couldn't really save the post for you at all. Can mods reorganize posts? And with multiple versions of one song, I think they should be retired too.

Btw, I guess I should sign up my band Harmonix Pawns for the rivalry. I can't wait to see if my pathing ability is improving at all

Edit: I'm gonna put the scoring guidelines here:

How scoring will work (may change depending on how many teams we have competing):

Week 1 Song 1:
Team 1: (Highest Score) 6 points
Team 2: 5 points
Team 3: 4 points
Team 4: 3 points
Team 5: 2 points
Team 6: 1 point
Team 7: 1 point
Team 8: (Lowest Score) 1 point

Week 1 Song 2:
Team 2: (Highest Score) 6 points
Team 6: 5 points
Team 8: 4 points
Team 1: 3 points
Team 5: 2 points
Team 7: 1 point
Team 4: 1 point
Team 3: (Lowest Score) 1 point

Total Score for that week being:
Team 2: 11 points
Team 1: 9 points
Team 6: 6 points
Team 8: 5 points
Team 4: 4 points
Team 3: 4 points
Team 5: 4 points
Team 7: 2 points
