Hey guys, I know that you try to keep stuff organized and whatnot, but when you lock a thread, how about letting ppl know WHY you locked it? Might just be a little more nice to know why it was done instead of ppl being like WTF... _________________

The mods on this forum do a great job, it's almost always the case that the cause for a lock is blatantly obvious, or they give a reason why they locked it. Frankly, I don't know what your'e complaining about, maybe if you had some links to locked threads that gave you this opinon? _________________

no, just when you may have posted something about whatever and thought it would be a decent topic to talk about something, it just gets locked without knowing why. I myself have had a couple topics locked and no reason was given, I have also seen others locked. Some people are new to the site or whatever, I mean if something is in the wrong forums, it can be moved, no? I just dont understand why there are topics that are locked when no reason has been given... _________________

Well, for example, let's say someone was thinking, "I really like this band; I bet some of their songs would be awesome as DLC! I wonder if anyone else here would agree with me? Let's find out!" The person in question then proceeds to post a new thread asking other members if they agree that "X" band would work well in the game. A couple of replies later, the thread is inexplicably locked with no reason given. Naturally, the OP is a little upset that his thread was, seemingly randomly, locked. If only he'd noticed the existence of the Wishlist thread at the top of the forum...!
Speaking from prior experience as a Moderator on other message boards, I can tell you that merging two separate threads together (which is what would have had to be done to "move" the aforementioned topic to the Wishlist thread) is a pain in the ass to do without messing something up in the process. Not to mention confusing to other members.
But the best way to find out why a thread got locked is to PM a Moderator directly about it. Removes all the guesswork. _________________

My point was not to go looking through my posts as it is not meant just for my 2 posts that have been locked, there are posts all over the place with no reason as to why they are locked. I dont think its too cool to have a post locked without a reason as to why...
I mean a mod is going to sit there a lock it, but give no reason _________________

More often than not, if a reason is not explicitly given by a mod, its because we felt that the reason was already given by another user in the thread or was painfully obvious.
Sometimes we just don't feel like saying "there's a request thread" for the 900th time. (Other users usually beat us to the punch on that particular one anyway.) _________________
