Has anyone calculated a formula to find the Star Ratings based on noteage data? For example, if I know how many notes are in a song, the cumulative hold-note time, how many points each are worth, is there a solid formula to determine the limits for each star rating? _________________

You mean star cutoffs? For guitar, I believe it is 0.21, 0.46, 0.77, 1.85, 3.08, and 4.68 times the base score of the song for the One through Gold Star cutoffs respectively. Drums are the same, except Gold Stars are 4.44 instead of 4.68. Bass takes all those numbers and multiplies them by 1.5, rounded to two decimal points. Vocals takes the base score for the phrases in the song times the above multipliers, then adds some additional points for percussion notes.
Band cutoffs are more complicated. Best I can figure right now, it takes the sum of the cutoffs for the individual instruments, then multiplies them by ~1.2-1.7 depending on the instruments in the band. Still working on figuring it out more exactly, though. |

Awesome, numbercruncher! That's what I'm talking about!
By "Base Score" you mean 100% with a X1 multiplier, right? _________________

Yes, except if there's a Big Rock Ending, there are sometimes notes charted under there (usually on expert guitar and bass, mainly) that don't directly affect your score, but seem to be included in the base score. The same goes for notes after the BRE - they don't directly affect a 100% 1X score (they only give you the points you accumulated during the BRE), but the points they would normally be worth is added into the base score. |
