This list finally got too big to realistically format in a single message.

You can find the new Gold Star cutoff list here:

Well looks like my topic is now null and void...

Well done.

Too bad Rockaway Beach, Sick Sick Sick, and Bang a Gong will never be Gold Starred if they're that hard to Five Star alone.

Sorry, I didn't mean to steal your project, but people keep discussing information based off of the "old" numbers, so I wanted to narrow those down to more accurate ones since I had the spare time to do it. (It's more fun than failing GG&HT over and over until I get it right, heh.)

And I'm one of those twisted people who finds calculating numbers a RELAXING thing to do amidst 50+ hour work weeks in the holiday madness. I think there's something wrong with my head.

Hey, this is a great list, thanks a lot. I almost wanna suggest putting this exact topic in the Techniques/Style/Gameplay forum so the topic with the incomplete list becomes obsolete. After all, why have something incomplete when you can have something complete?

Also, it has been proven that Sick Sick Sick CAN be gold starred, so take that off the red lettering.

Excellent Information! I can't believe I was 3K away from getting GG&HT!

I suggest that this be stickied, as it is VERY useful information that would greatly benefit the scorehero rockband commmunity.

Hopefully the bass cutoffs will be completed as well!

You can take the "impossible" off of "Sick, Sick, Sick" because krim did it. as for the other "impossible" ones, the people at the top of the leaderboards are close, and if a good squeezer gave it a shot, we'd see them all gold starred. But I think "impossible" to gold star songs are here to stay, they should have made sure every song was gold star-able, kind of annoying.

Nodnod. I've updated Sick, Sick, Sick accordingly. His pulling off a 5GS on that was damn impressive.

As for 'taking over' the main topic, nuking that one and starting fresh - I'd leave that up to BatDan to decide - if he decides not to update the current one anymore, I can start a new one with my current list, and we can work on narrowing that one down to closer numbers.

It'll also give me an excuse to buy all the DLC that comes out - keeping the Guitar and Bass lists updated is a "moral obligation." Or a "business expense." Or something.

I'll finish the Bass cutoffs, never fear. None of them are particularly hard to 5* so far, and that's all I need to reach. I may need some help with the Metallica pack - my single-directional-strumming playstyle might not be able to handle that.

I'll try to add ~10 Bass Cutoffs a day, but I'll need to take a break over the holidays because I'll be away from my guitar.

My apologies to BatDan, but I'm locking your topic in favor of this up-to-date one.

PeridotWeapon, great work. Keep it up. However, I'm moving the topic to Technique, Style, Gameplay so it's in the correct forum.

Okay, via the on-line Leaderboard information, over 200 people have at least five-starred Blackened on Expert Guitar at this point. The best is within 1,000 of the 'guestimate' score for 5GS, and since the data's so inaccurate on that one he might have actually done it.

You'd think SOMEBODY would have posted a 5* video so I could confirm the 5* cut-off point! So a formal request for the holiday break - if anyone can do that and wants to put up a video, or even a 10-second clip showing when the fifth star appears, I'd appreciate it.

Because I KNOW I'll never get good enough to do it myself at this rate - at least not until the Battle of the Bass is mostly complete ...

Wulfe said he did gold star Blackened. Apparently getting 90+% on the solo was necessary which required hitting the fast trill of doom at the end. But yeah, use Wulfes score on the leaderboard for the gold star proof.

Nodnod. I figured my guestimate number was a little on the high side - calculating a 5* rating from a 4* rating and then the 5GS after that could easily screw up by a couple thousand points.

I think it's the fact that right now, Blackened is the ONLY song on the entire list I can't mathematically calculate from a 5* rating with my own eyes and say "yep, this is right with 500 points or I can't add." Call me a perfectionist.

Since we have this topic here for us (many thanks for doing this btw PW), does this mean we're not going to have the ability to submit proofs for Rock Band?

That is not true, mainly because these are not specific scores, but estimations. The scores listed here are not proofs, but simply guidelines for about where you need to be. We do not have a foolproof way to calculate these, and thus they will eventually need to be proven to exact values. As for when that functionality will be built in to rockband.scorehero.com is JCirri's decision.

Nodnod. I'd like to think they're reasonably close, but the exact "Five Star to Gold Star" multiplier isn't known, and even if it was, all the 5* cut-offs are visual estimates (and can be +/- 200 points from the actual score.)

Because of this, depending on the song, some people will hit an exact number listed up there and NOT get 5GS, or end up getting it a couple hundred points before the target number listed.

This list narrows down the cut-off margins considerably, but there's still a lot of room for improvement.

I'll be "AWOL" for the next two days for the holidays, so if any new content DOES come out on Tuesday, I won't be able to update this list until I get back on Wednesday.

Also, for anyone who gets the PS2 version of the game and feels like confirming the lower cut-offs for Five Gold Stars, go nuts. It SOUNDS like they're about 90% of the values listed here, but I really need more data before I update the list with them.
