How to Read a Drum Path
A typical path might look like this: 1 - 0 - 1
Each number refers to how many drum fills you skip before activating. In this example you would skip 1 fill and then activate on the next for the first activation. The second activation you be immediate. On the third activation you would again skip 1 fill before activating.
Note that in RB3 front-end squeezing apparently no longer works. Unless someone can prove otherwise, we won't list squeeze notes for the paths.
On a few select paths, you'll see a SqOut, like this: 1(SqOut). This means that for this activation, your overdrive is going to run out right at the end of an overdrive phrase. In these cases, you're in control of either hitting the last note of the OD phrase early to keep your activation going, or hitting it late so that you don't "chain" the activation. When you see a SqOut, you want to hit it late, making so you DON'T chain. An alternate approach is to hit the OD note itself as early as possible, which makes it easier not to accidentally chain.
A SqIn identifies a case where you want to chain overdrive, either by activating as late as possible, or hitting the last note of the chaining OD phrase early.
An E next to a number indicates that you should hit the last note of the overdrive phrase as early as possible. This will cause the next fill to appear a bit sooner than it would if you hit the note on time or late. Conversely, an L next to a number indicates that you should hit the last note of the overdrive phrase as late as possible. Otherwise a fill will come too early and you will have to skip it for the optimal path, missing points.
If a path is marked all immediate then it means activate immediately every time .
Paths for regular drums and "full pro" drums (3 cymbals) should generally be the same. Paths for pro charts with 1 or 2 cymbals may be different. If someone can identify such a case, I will list the alternate path.
Bracketed scores after paths are optimal scores obtained with the path in question, where provided. If there ends up being a dispute about paths these optimals will be useful in deciding them.
Note that I generally don't have the skill to personally verify paths. I am trusting you guys.

I thought that toms counted as 25 rather than 30 in pro mode? If that's the case then 3-cymbal paths might be different, especially if the song has sections that use floor tom (G) as the timekeeping beat (e.g. Foo Fighters DOA, etc.) |
This was an assumption that got spread around, it's been verified that in pro mode all notes are 30 points with 3 cymbals. | Yep this is true. So paths will be the exact same regularly and with 3 cymbals. _________________

In pro mode, every note counts 30 points.
If you are missing a cymbal, then for whatever pad you are missing the cymbal, THOSE notes are worth 25. Therefore snare and bass are always worth 30.
Only in the case where some notes are worth 25 and others 30 would it make sense for a path to be different.

Drum paths are the hardest, 'cause of the fills, it's hard to tell whether or not it's worth it to wait for a better path or just avoid having fills.

But this is just a guess from looking at the chart it's probably completely wrong.

Maybe what I should do tonight is go through the leaderboards and see the top scores for the songs and then we might be able to use some of those to determine what path was most likely used (or paths that we know are NOT optimal). _________________

If it is, it has overdrive left over at the end.
Just some quick thoughts, nothing certain of course but here they are:
20th Century Boy - All 0's
Been Caught Stealing - all 0's. Squeezing opportunity for sure, my all 0's has me I think 200 pts below #1 on the official leaderboards.
Centerfold - All 0's
China Grove - Not all 0's I think. I'm 12k less than #1, but then again I did this in BQP so maybe my teammates missed some unison bonuses or something.
Don't Stand So Close to Me - all 0's
Du Hast - Not all 0's. I'm 5k less than the #1
I Love Rock and Roll - all 0's
I Need to Know - all 0's
I Wanna Be Sedated - all 0's, squeeze opportunity. I'm 200 less than #1.
Imagine - if there is a path other than all 0's, no one on SH has figured it out yet. We're all tied for 1st place.
Just Like Heaven - all 0's
Last Dance - all 0's I think. Leader is 600 pts above me, but that may just mean they're a better squeezer than I am.
Living in America - all 0's
Outer Space - Not all 0's. Perrin4TW has us beat by 900 pts with a different note streak and FC
Plush - all 0's
The Hardest Button to Button - Not all 0's. I'm beat by 800 pts with a different note streak. Although, I don't remember this song so I may have skipped a quiet part or maybe the first activation. I usually won't skip unless it's obvious a quiet part is coming or the song hasn't picked up yet, so maybe I did skip.
The Power of Love - all 0's.
Walk of Life - Presumably not all 0's. I'm beat on the official leaderboards by a ton, and on SH by 800 pts with a different note streak.
Walking on the Sun - all 0's.

I'm quite certain Roundabout is 0 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0, unless there's some way to get OD to activate over the yellow roll

0-2-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 actually beats 0-1-1-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 by 5300 points. 340,275 should be the optimal score. Some double squeezes look to be possible in this song so maybe a couple hundred points higher is possible. _________________
