There was speculation that Rock Band would be delayed until December 20th on the gamespot forums from a user off for rockband.com. I didn't believe it and called EB myself. The game is infact delayed until December 20th across all platforms in Canada
Ugh. What a drag. |

Yea i read an interview with a Harmonix guy at some gaming thing in Toronto and he said it might be delayed here.
The reason was that they had to create different packaging, with both French and English on it due to Canadian bilingualism laws. I don't see how was is a problem because all other games have it, the only thing i can think of is that they didn't know about this and by the time they found out it was too late.
All i can say is this blows, and damn you Quebecois, ruining it for the rest of us :p
*edit* - I'm going to try to find the interview _________________

ok guys heres the article, its a few weeks old so it doesn't give a date but it does confirm the delay.
http://www.thebbps.com/blog/2007/10/11/rock-band-the-bundles-dlc-pricing-the-guitar-hero-stigma-disconnected-gaming-and-more/
Scroll down to the section titled "On the trouble with Canada and loonies"
A short clip from this reads...
"However, because of packaging regulations in Canada the release of Rock Band may see some small delays to go north of the border. Canadian standards force all packaging to come in both English and French-Canadian, and this issue- coupled with shipping quantities to Canada- may delay the release in the Great White North."
this is quite sad _________________

The Packaging excuse is the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. This IS EA who is dealing with the distribution of this, they're more then well aware of the regulations. This isn't anything new.
It doesn't take a month to print up some boxes, and if they really need to, just throw some stickers on the damn box, or wrap it up in a fake piece of paper like they do with their games.
If there is a delay, it probably because they can't make enough of them. If that's the case, then still boooo, but we should at least get the standalone game. |

I ended up calling harmonix this afternoon, the guy said there shouldn't be a delay and if there is, they don't know about it. |

That's what you Canadians get for living in a country that sells milk in bags.

We do?? I remember an elementary school experiment gone horribly awry with bagged milk, but it's all cartons 'round here, son!
I really hope the contacted Harmonix person is correct, a December 20th delay is a whole fall harvest of fail. _________________

Jugs is by the far the superior way of selling milk, and that's what they do in BC. _________________

here in Ontario we got the best of all worlds (bags, jugs and cartons), but bags are fairly popular _________________

Oh man... I'm probably STILL going to be looking for GHIII for my Wii, and now also trying to find RB for my PS2?
I noticed Amazon.com has the PS2 versions listed, which Amazon.ca does not. |
