How many Main ARK files are there supposed to be because I only see 2 - Main_0.ark and Main_1.ark.

According to Xbox Backup Creator there is only 4.88GB of space used, is this correct or am I missing files.

no, that's how many i had on my rock band.
there's only 2 in the 360 one. but there's like 8 with the PS2 (idk the exact number, but there's a bunch.)
that sounds about the right size.

Has anyone been able to decrypt the HDR file and extract the contents of the ark files? There are several songs I want to add to GH3 for PC.

I can get you all of the note charts, but none of the audio is decrypted yet. So your currently SOL unless you want customs. Sorry about that. We all want it done.

Maybe the reason that the PS2 version has more Ark files is because all of the background video is pre-rendered and the 360 version has all the background video rendered on the fly.

Pre-rendered videos usually take up much more space than if it was rendered on the fly.

My guess is that the PS2 is not powerful enough to do all of that rendering and keeping up with 4 instruments.

That and the fact that mogg's are a fraction of the size of pss/vgs files. I don't believe the PS2 has enough jam to use such a compressed audio format as mogg with that many streams. Plus i believe i read something about the audio format PS2's audio processor natively supports?

What method are you using to extract the note charts?

I've just seen it done, and someone sent it to me. I have all of them in mid format somewhere.

Any chance you can share those files with me, or find out the method used to extract the charts?

You should be able to extract the ARK files from your ISO and use xorloser's ArkTool to extract the MIDs. I would recommend against asking for copies of the MIDs on the forum as they are copyrighted material and SH frowns on their distribution.

Am I missing something because when I try to extract from the ISO, all I get are AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

Unfortunately Xbox 360 discs are designed to appear as a DVD video if you don't use them in an Xbox 360. You need to use special tools to read it on your computer (google, search the forums or wait for someone else to explain it - sorry I don't know exactly what you do either).

there are currently 3 methods for ripping x360 discs:
Method 1 (wxRipper)
1. disassemble a Dvd drive that can read DL discs, and take out the magnet that holds the disc in place.
2. now connect it to your computer while it is out of the computer case (tower).
3. Open wxRipper program (download here)
4. put in a dvd movie that is over ~ 7.3Gb (i use King Kong), after it loads click the "stop spin" (square) button.
5. switch the movie with the Game click the "find magic number" (Magnifying glass) button
6. click the "start spin" (sideways triangle) button
7. Click Start and wait

Method 2 (Kreon)
1. buy a Samsung SH-D162D/C dvd drive
2. download Kreon firmware (google, Xbins etc.)
3. download Xbox Backup Creator (google)
4. Rip game with the click of a button

Method 3 (0800 Fw or disc)
1. you need to have either an MS25/28 or BenQ Xbox 360 drive
2. connect your 360 drive to your computer
3. either flash the drive with 0800 firmware (google, xbins etc.) or burn the 0800 .iso (google) to a disc and load it into your xbox
4. Rip the game in Xbox Backup Creator like normal

*method 3 involves knowing basic 360 flashing skills
**all methods need a modded 360 to play the backup copy of the disc
***i wouldn't recommend Method 1 unless its all that you can do

Yeah, I've used method 2 to get the arks. I've had them for 2 months now, but couldn't figure out how to get the MIDs. I was missing the xorloser's ArkTool part. Thanks for the info guys.
