Wasn't excited for this week until I listened to When I'm Gone again. Protar on that is going to be AWESOME! And drums won't be a slouch either. Looking forward to it. _________________

Oh for joy. ._.
I'm happy by proxy for all the people who wanted Poison, as well as the presumably much smaller group who are going to like the 3DD songs, but "meh" is probably the closest to a positive reaction I can personally have for this DLC. | Talk Dirty To Me is fun as hell on drums (on GH anyways). But yeah, I have all 3 on my preferred game, and Three Doors Down doesn't do anything for me. _________________

Hah it's funny to jump on and get first place for all the poison songs on vocals, I am sure those ranks will be obliterated by the time I wake up tomorrow morning. Fun, but I definitely need to practice. |

I prefer the GH chart for all three Poison songs. NBAGT protar is fun as hell.
Worst thing about the Poison pack though, is that it has TWO big rock endings, neither of which is necessary. _________________

I only got Talk Dirty To Me 'cos I had just enough points for one song and couldn't be bothered to buy more... but I'm gonna have to agree with the fella there, I prefer the GH3 chart. It's not horrible, just... yeah. Still good fun though. _________________

I think the WoR chart is better than this one, but that may be just because of the lack of a BRE. _________________

Nothing But A Good Time's BRE is debatable, but honestly I don't see a problem with it. It could go 50/50 either way.
Having said that, how could anybody think Talk Dirty To Me's BRE is ill-fitting? I know especially on songs that were in GH and whatever people like to be forced to hit every single note, but this is EXACTLY WHAT BRE'S ARE FOR. The entire band is just spamming notes. Sure the guitar part underneath might be fun to play, but what if you're a drummer? Would you rather play the BRE or random cymbal swells and off-tempo kick pedal? Not fun in my book. The fact is, BRE's exist for a reason, and like it or not, the outro to Talk Dirty to Me exemplifies that reason better than almost anything out there. To claim it's "unnecessary" is the sign of someone who believes all BRE's should be abolished completely. While that's a valid opinion, they're here and they will be used, so at least accept it when they're used well.
/rant/
Anyways, I'd actually say this is a fantastic week for guitarists and vocalists. Nice vocal melodies and harmonies, and fantastic guitar charts all around. I think I slightly prefer the GH versions of the Poison songs as far as guitar goes, but they're all authored well and really fun to play (in my opinion). Three Doors Down is probably one of the most all-around solid mid-tier packs ever released. Keys are a little dead, but guitar is great for tier 2-3 stuff, and the rhythm section is really solid too. |
