I've been playing Guitar Hero, but the transition to Rock Band is so goddamn hard! No Hyperspeed, nearly impossible to tell which notes are HO/PO's (that's actually thanks to GH3 and those huge white spots in the middle. If I had never played GH3 and only GH2 I'd be able to tell the difference in RB), and the timing window seems fucked up. Does anyone have any tips on making the switch to RB? I've got about 20 FC's on RB, but 51 in GH3 and I feel like I should be doing A LOT better.
PS: Squeezings hard as a bitch too. _________________

I was in the same shape, save for the HOPOs.
I've only had RB for about two weeks but I'm still figuring things out. However, after playing it for a while I've just learned to use different playing techniques.
For example, on series of repated notes (think Enter Sandman), I like to snap or flick the strumbar vs GH style strumming and having it come back up with your thumb. (If that makes sense...)
That is about the best info I can give. I'm still no big fan of the Strat. I can't use my GH3 guitar because my GH3 is for Wii and RB is for the PS3. I so wish I could though!
Seriously, just give up GH3 for a couple of weeks and play RB straight. You'll figure out the little differences and get it.
One thing though, if you're playing solo, I still think GH is much more fun to play. Unless you have someone else to play with RB can get kind of dry. _________________

Oh, one other bit of advice to keep in mind...
Songs in GH (especially GH3) are hard for the sake of being hard. RB isn't like that. It's more about the aspect of playing together and in time vs. songs that are insanely hard to play on guitar. (I've passed a few songs on Expert, where as on GH I've barely passed one song on Expert.) _________________

I transitioned from GH Hard to RB Expert with ZERO problems. It probably helped that I never used hyperspeed in GH. |

Put on precision mode in GH3 if you want to get used to stricter timing.
As I see it, the rationale for GH3 was "Let's make ridiculous songs (even more ridiculous)... oh shit, now we need a huge time window."
RB is far more about playing what's there and at the correct times.
P.S. nivlac is correct... _________________

You said the timing window seems messed up. You should probably look up some calibration FAQs to calibrate your system better. The windows are smaller than GH3, so if it is a bit off, it makes a difference. |

I'm having these problems a bit too, except I started with GH3 and then played GH2 and then this. I had similar problems transitioning to GH2, but here it does indeed seem like the timing is off a bit--i.e. often there are times where it seems like I need to strum early.
this is on PS2, where I've heard there may be lag issues, I'm not sure. _________________

The transition to Rock band was only harder to do the Ho/Po. I got those down after a long session of playing with friends in band mode. The only thing thats killing me now is the damn strats strumbar as I cant get long phrases down (still). But i never used hyper speed or anything like that... _________________

I used hyperspeed only for GH3, because i felt the note charts were hard for NO reason. But as time went on, i went back to GH2, as GH3 was really annoying to play.
But i never used Hyperspeed for GH2, i always felt that the speed the notes were it helped to read and interpret if you saw them come down at the speed they usually do. The spacing was never a problem (only in Gh3) _________________
