I'm not gonna lie, they chose quite possibly the worst Pat Benatar song they could have. I mean, Heartbreaker is not only a much better song, it would also be much more fun on the game.

Or Promises in the Dark, or You Better Run, or Hell is for Children. Agreed, HMWYBS is an awful choice.

With the exception of the Pat Benetar song, this week is awesome on bass. Yes, even the Nickelodeon tracks. "Break My Heart" has a sweet bass solo in it.

Is it an actual blue solo? Wouldn't that be the first bass "solo"?

The background is blue in that part as long as you have a bass groove. >_>

No "true" bass solo, and I don't think we'll ever get one.

The Boys are Back in Town is up there with My Sharona as one of those brilliant song that just puts a smile on your face while still rocking. I challenge anyone to play it while they're having a bad day and not have it turn around completely.

Definitely downloading the entire Thin Lizzy pack. They look so fun. I suppose I'll push aside prejudice and listen to those Nickelodeon songs. >.>

No, we don't get blue "solo sections" in songs, even when there is a clearly identifiable bass solo.

Because really, what's it going to do? Turn MORE blue?

How much more blue could it turn? The answer is none. None more blue.

Holy shit. I just caught a glimpse of the cover for the Thin Lizzy live album.

I don't know why, but this just looks completely BADASS.

Two things:

1- I completely agree with you.

2- Thank you for getting an image of the cover. I can make the banners for it after all!

I'm gonna be honest - I was gonna wait a little before buying the Thin Lizzy pack, but I saw that cover and was suddenly compelled to buy it as soon as possible.

I actually found out some neat stuff looking for that cover.

Apparently, they released a live album back in'78 called "Live and Dangerous." They didn't have enough time to lay down a studio album, so they recorded their gigs for the next couple weeks and picked and chose what songs to play.

Quote:
After they had decided which tracks they were going to use, Lynott asked if they could re-record some vocals due to technical issues. After spending some time overdubbing various bits, noticing the impact on the result, they ended up re-recording all the vocals, guitars and bass. So the only real live elements of Live and Dangerous are the drums and the audience. Visconti justified this by stating that every track was performed before a live audience. The exception being Southbound which was taken from a sound check onstage in Philadelphia

So it was a live album, but not really. This release is the live album that one should have ostensibly been.

The Boys are Back in Town is easily one of my favorite songs. Can't wait to DL it when it gets onto the PS store.

Yeah, several of the most notable live albums from the '70s are like this (Frampton Comes Alive, Kiss's Alive!) to some degree.

What shows up in the album art spot for the Thin Lizzy tracks then, if it isn't that image above?
