I think I like the Mother Hips songs more than this particular choice of SP. Where's 1979? _________________

I don't see Red Tandy or TSSoaGB rising above the ranks of other 'I forgot I had this in my collection' songs, but there's something to be said for musical diversity I suppose.
Red Tandy just annoys me to listen to for some reason, and that's a rarity since I can tolerate pretty much anything. Don't think I'll ever want to sing it; the first half is repetitive, and the second half you'd have nothing to do. And for Guitar, it felt like it tries a bit too hard to be a little different - but as long as you can switch from Green to G/R/B on command, you've probably got Gold Stars in the bag with proper Overdrive.
Of course, it's probably a bad idea to play new songs and try to assess them when I know I need to go off and waste my day at the garage waiting for yesterday's flat tire to be replaced before going to work. I'm probably transferring my annoyance on The Mother Hips, or other psychological stuff like that.
Gold Star Cutoffs (for Guitar, anyway) are up at 'the usual spot.' |

Only song I won't be getting is Red Tandy. It starts off promising, then the bridge comes in and all vocals stop for about 4 minutes. The rest of the song was disappointing; waiting for the song to "pick back up".
But, TSSoGB looks to be the best song this week. _________________

I love Red Tandy. It feels like an actual concert song with the long jam at the end. _________________

Hmm, the end of Red Tandy kinda sucks IMO. The other two are point-worthy this week I believe. Thanks for the videos NPeaen. _________________

I haven't played Red Tandy on guitar yet, but the bass part to the ending is fun... nice to have another song where the bassist steals the spotlight away from the guitarist for a while! \m/
Edit: Played it on guitar just now, and confirmed... definitely a bass outro... it's the guitarist's turn to grind away a repetitive part while the bassist has fun! _________________

I'm not a fan of Zero's vocal chart. Lots of talking parts that should clearly be sung...and I didn't hit any of them in two runs so far. :/ |

Definitely picking up Zero, but the rest would just be completely ignored by my band and only played once or twice by me probably. |

X drums on Zero is... average.
It's mostly just a staright 3-bass beat (like paranoid but slower).
A couple of different transition parts, but nothing particularly exciting.
98% or something on a sloppy sightread.
Definitely not Jimmy's finest percussion work. Nowhere near the complexity of Cherub Rock or Siva.
Still a great tune though. _________________

My thoughts exactly, it's definitely my favorite of the bunch. I don't care for the Smashing Pumpkins song and I don't really think the other Mother Hips song would hold up on instruments other than guitar. |

I'm surprised there isn't more love for Red Tandy. I guess the jam at the end isn't so fun for guitar or vocalists, but it makes it one of the best drum songs in the game. The song itself is really cool sounding to me also, it reminds me of the Beatles with a more modern/alternative sound.
Haven't checked out the other song by them, but if it's as cool as Red Tandy I'll get it. The Mother Hips song included with the game was kind of bad, in comparison. |

I'm loving all these songs, never even having heard Zero but a couple times before. The Mother Hips's songs have an interesting sound and I like it. |
