The second we can encrypt the .PSS files we'll have PS2 Rock Band Customs. _________________

kind of.
what we need is a muxer that will take mpg and vgs files and push them together into a pss file.
encrypting it may not even be necessary. |

Quick question. When it becomes possible to put customs on the PS2, will it be fairly easy to put the DLC songs in? I want to play Boston so bad I can taste it. Will I have to chart my own versions? |

Unless you legally acquire the HMX charts, yes. As with songs on the main disc (and as with GH customs), I'm pretty sure SH will not allow distribution of customs of songs officially released for RB. _________________

songcrypt /?
it tells you.
I believe it's
songcrypt inputsongname.mogg outputsongname.mogg
BTW, use the values in songs.dta to convert to 2 channels for mp3.
pans: -1 left channel, +1 right channel, 0 mono
vols: amplify by -x.x dB
so if the mogg when decrypted and opened in audacity, say it has 11 tracks the songs.dta should have something like so
(pans ( 0.0 -1.0 1.0 -1.0 1.0 0.0 -1.0 1.0 0.0 -1.0 1.0 ))
(vols ( -1.3 -2.5 -2.5 -1.8 -1.8 1.2 -4.9 -4.9 -2.3 -2.3 -2.3 ))
first: 0, -1.3 would be the top track in audacity. Set it to mono. Amply that track by -1.3
second: -1.0, -2.5 would be the next track down. Set it to left channel. Amplify by -2.5
third: ect...
last: export as wav/mpg/ogg vorbis... audacity will then downmix to two channels |

Tested and working fine.
Remember, the mogg still has a header before the actual ogg skeleton. If the song is too long you will have to delete this header before Audacity will open it. Just delete everything before the first occurence of "OggS" with a hex editor. |

ok, this might be a little noob and off topic, but I need to ask:
I already extracted tha mid and pss files for enter sandman files from my RB PS2 disk, demuxed the pss file to mpg+vgs file, but I want to know how do I demultiplx the vgs file? I already tried VGSSplitter and nothing happens, since the app says the file has 9 channels instead of 6 |

I must protest the removal of PSSTool, and to a lesser extent ArkTool. AFAIK, PSSTool does no decryption on it's own, it only splits the PSS into M2V and VGS (which will be vital to make a legal ripkit that does not contain any copyrighted material other than that for which permission is given to distribute) and is the basis of any standard MPEG-2 demuxer except for the fact that it specially handles the small amount of data added to the beginning of each packet payload (whereas a normal demuxer leaves it intact). It will also make custom video files possible for existing songs in the future when we have a legally-distributable PSS muxer that handles VGS files. Also, the ArkTool decryption on PS2 does not do anything more than the old GH2RIP tool does, because you still have to split the VGS file and then convert to WAV manually - essentially no different than the concert mode custom method. Perhaps an issue can be taken over the mogg files because they are much more readily usable once decrypted, but the rest of ArkTool's functionality is currently vital for RB customs and will end up serving to improve the GH customs scene as well, for example allowing 360 GH2 custom users to have no known restrictions on imported song filesize as with the injection method. _________________
