Since I'm too lazy and not very handy, I just bought some of these from NoSkill. These things made my EL drum pads useful. Before I used these the drum kit just sucked. I couldn't keep a streak going at all. I finally gold starred Gimme Shelter after using this mod.
I have no idea if they would be useful on a QM set however. |

That's great to hear! Just don't forget to remove them when the pads crack and you have to RMA your kit.
I'm going on RMA #4 today |

I got these from the ebay auction and they are amazing! Looking at my drum kit, you never would have guessed it was mod. Now all my pads are feel solid like the yellow and blue. I was able to pass Move Along for the first time with this. Thanks so much. _________________

Ok, finished the second one today and went over to play at my friend's house.
Holy God, they improved my set so much, like, I'm almost willing to say I have the perfect set, with no mods, like, it rarely drops notes, but with this mod, it just doesn't drop notes, the end.
I have no other mods than this one, do it, now. _________________

Just got my support struts from eBay and they are AWESOME! Kudos to you sir, I never even thought about support struts for the red and green drums, and now it seems completely obvious in retrospect. That is the highest compliment I can give any mod.
I wrote about it here with pictures..

Here's hoping Harmonix adds those struts to the next edition of the drum kit, because holy cow do they ever make the red and green drums work a zillion times better.
Again, kudos, and VERY happy customer. Awesome fix for a real problem, excellent quality and attention to detail, well worth my 20 bucks. |

I definately recommend any/all drum sets to have this. It really is a no-brainer at the cost. I have a QM set with this mod and 3/16" gum rubber only...my set plays like a dream. _________________

Bought it. Love it. Needs to be part of the next gen drums by HMX (along with gum/neo mutes).

I don't need any tape, paint, felt, etc....just accurately cut PVC. I will edit/delete this post after a deal has been made |
EDIT: I mistakenly posted two pictures of the template. I thought the other one would be a vertical mirror image but I was wrong. Use this single template for both struts. For the green strut wrap the template around the PVC so the lines are on the outside. For the red strut wrap the template so that the lines are on the inside (against the PVC pipe). Sorry for the confusion.

I'm still waiting for the paint to cure on the second strut. I'll add the pics to my thread when I have both struts made but you can print these templates and check your angles. _________________

Nice job DGP. Like I posted in my thread, I took a roll of toilet paper, flattened it, and essentially did the same thing. Cutting free-form is too difficult......use a template to make sure you cut these right. _________________

That template is a great idea.
For those who would still rather purchase them, we will be selling these on our website at a reduced price starting soon. Hopefully it will be up and running this weekend.

I had 2 inch ABS lying around the house and chopped some up with a hand saw.
It's crude and not ideal, but GOD DAMN THIS MOD IS SWEET.
Some hockey tape, and I'm good to go. These babies are ROCK solid.
Added roughly 200k points tonight after this neat trick, red pad feels so much better.
Total cost = $0 as this stuff was just lying around.
Thanks. |
