Damn, I don't live in Massachusetts.

Regardless, this is a very awesomely intelligent idea. Every company should do this.

This is Chris Canfield, playtest coordinator from Harmonix. We do a lot of playtesting, and occasionally we need to refresh our database of willing players here in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). I figured you guys deserved a shot at getting in.

We're looking for fresh volunteers to come in, play our games, and tell us what we're messing up... more or less what happens on these forums, but in person. This is unpaid single-session stuff, but there will be pizza.

Now for the details:

1. Please only sign up if you're within an hour (or so) drive of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Remote playtesting just doesn't give the kind of immediate feedback we need.

2. Signing up does not reserve a spot in specific playtest. It does, however, put yourself in the pool of available players that we'll draw from for future tests. If you're lucky and are selected, an e-mail with more details may come anywhere from two weeks to two years from now.

3. Sessions are about an hour and a half, but I'll let you know the timing in advance. We generally have night and weekend slots, and can work around most schedules.

4. What gets playtested isn't always the fun part, and the game is not always fun at the point it gets playtested. If it was, we'd ship it. Sometimes testing is as spartan as flipping through menu options and letting us know what makes sense and what doesn't.

5. This is an unpaid but essential step in making good games. It gives us the fresh perspective that we wouldn't otherwise have. It will also give you insight into the development process, and some very direct input into the direction of the project. And pizza.

6. Our games are mostly T for Teen, so please get parental permission if that isn't you.

7. We especially need players who have never tried our games. If you have neighbors / aunts / bosses who haven't picked up a plastic instrument, please send 'em our way.

Thanks! And thanks to Scorehero for letting us post here.

- Chris

Why can't I live in Boston... I'm on the other damn side of the country for God's sake!

What about poor ME who live outside the U.S. in another continent?

(Well, kinda another continent, 'coz I'm in South America, but still in America)

Damn, I SO wish I could apply for this job, even though I'm not all that stuff playing GH (I still haven't played RB yet)... Do they pay well enough? 9.9

Welcome to the group. I live in fucking Europe!!! Also it would be a good chance to test it. (it isn`t released in Europe until April... )

I live in Allston and have actually visited the studios before. I remember signing up months ago without a call back. I just signed up again, so hopefully they'll call this time.

I just wanted to give a huge "Thank You" to everyone who has signed up so far. The support from the community has been overwhelming! We have a lot more people signed up than we can use in the near future, so I'm going to close this down soon.

If you haven't signed up yet, now would be the time.
