Started going back and trying to gold star songs. The question that I have Is do I need near perfection or is it best to just get a really good Overdrive path? The reason why i ask ist hat i can NOT gold star Mississippi Queen, even though Im only missing a very few notes (I've gotten 98%). Maps I actually FC'ed and I only made it on the LAST note. Thats a little bit silly.
So any suggestions on fixing this problem? Im getting near perfect runs save 2 or 3 notes sometimes and getting just 5 stars... _________________

Hit Moar Notes? Gold Star has nothing to do with the % - it's all points.
There's a stickied thread that has the target number you need for each song. I think a couple songs are "broken" and can't be FC'ed for vocals, but (from memory) none of the guitar should be.
EDIT: Bang a Gong and Rockaway Beach guitar are broken. Mississippi Queen is not. |

Overdrive makes all the difference, of course. If you full comboed a song but never used any overdrive, you can't possibly get to Gold Stars.
If you can play the song flawlessly, you want to figure out where there's the largest concentration of notes in a song, preferably chords or fast streams. Waiting until you have a full tank is usually a mistake, and using it when it's immediately available isn't always a good idea either.
If you know places where you personally tend to break combo, but can hold combo for awhile AFTER those, you want to hold onto your overdrive until you get back up to a 4x multiplier and then activate it. 8x multipliers are your friend, 2x on Overdrive hurts more than you might realize.
Being a low-scoring song, doing well on the solo is important, as is maximizing your Big Rock Ending bonus, either with solo buttons or the "slow scale" method. It's not a LONG BRE, but it's still worth a few thousand. |

Well the problem with Mississippi queen is that I kept all that in mind. I was getting the solo down, i was using my starpower for the section with the chords and where i know there are more notes...i thought i was doing everything that I could...adn still nothing was helping.
So I Gold Stared it with 51.3k. I just hit it with the BRE. _________________
