How to Read a Drum Path

A typical path might look like this: 1 - 0 - 1

Each number refers to how many drum fills you skip before activating. In this example, you would skip 1 fill and then activate on the next for the first activation. The second activation you be immediate. On the third activation, you would again skip 1 fill before activating.

On a few select paths, you'll see a SqOut, like this: 1(SqOut). This means that for this activation, your overdrive is going to run out right at the end of an overdrive phrase. In these cases, you're in control of either hitting the last note of the OD phrase early to keep your activation going, or hitting it late so that you don't "chain" the activation. When you see a SqOut, you want to hit it late, making so you DON'T chain. An alternate approach is to hit the OD note itself as early as possible, which makes it easier not to accidentally chain.

A SqIn identifies a case where you want to chain overdrive, either by activating as late as possible or hitting the last note of the chaining OD phrase early.

If a path is marked all immediate/AI then it means activate immediately every time #.

Paths for regular drums and "full pro" drums (3 cymbals) are the same.

Bracketed scores after paths are optimal scores obtained with the path in question, where provided. If there ends up being a dispute about paths these optimals will be useful in deciding them.

(A big thank you to blingdomepiece for the section on how to read a drum path)

New for Rock Band 4!

Upon activation, bonus points will be awarded from the different types of fills! Making it harder to calculate an optimal path. The score breakdown is this.
Classic: 0 Bonus Points. Dynamic: 2,000 Bonus Points. Static: 2,400 Bonus Points. The fill has to be played perfectly to get the bonus points

I don't remember what update patched it, but fills are now fixed for all players. Meaning breakneck speed paths are no longer a thing.

Cal paths will be added, but I personally haven't used them nor do I know how to properly use them since my normal calibration numbers are normally 80+.

Everyone's help is greatly appreciated :D

Not all paths are correct since community help has been nearly nonexistent since RB4 is rather crap.

I don't want to be the only one working on these paths. I noticed there's a lot of views, but if nobody is willing to help, I'll just remove this thread.

As soon as I get some I'll throw them in here.

Friday I'm In Love : All Immediate

I've got what is essentially first on Xbox but Sk1zzl3 seems to be abusing the fill bonus to get over optimal scores.

Drums is more complex than hmx intended. With the new system in place it makes pathing drums super boring and honestly I hate it. Everything is basically AI now... That said here are some tricks:
1) BNS and NoNBNS don't have a role in deciding when fills show up anymore. I also tested to see if L/0 and E/0 paths work and I personally found they don't. This means Audio lag is the only source in determining when fills show up. This is lame, not everyone has the same audio lag setup and most paths are now AI so any rando can top the boards if they are lucky. WTF HMX!
2) Sqin and Sqout still works. You can also abuse Sqout if the note in question has more than one note attached to it. If it's a GO you can hit the G early to get it in OD then hit the O late to actually sqout.
3) HMX's Od system isn't as robust as you think it is. You can sometimes sqin notes that don't end on the measure OD ends. You can act late and hit early to make it happen. When you get harder songs that have notes closer together this becomes plausible.
4) Pause glitching (I'm not explaining it here). Ya it's lame, it's also great to know how to do if you think someone else is doing it. Fight fire with fire. It has a cap of 9 pauses so don't get too butt hurt. With static fills too, it makes this glitch MUCH harder to do.
*Most of these techniques are brought over from rb3. The problem is since the new engine made pathing so much simpler, it made the technical aspect stand out more for people who know how it works*

Post stickied. Don't include lag numbers in paths though, we're not going to promote using specific calibration paths. It should be assumed that paths posted she be attainable by most people most of the time using normal calibration.

Suspicious Minds - AI
Pretty sure it's optimal, I'm tied for first with a good amount of people. Not sure about squeezing possibilities though.

I understand it's considered exploiting but take into consideration cal lag settings from 0-200. I have 155 and a CRT TV should be 0. Those are respectable settings for anyone. Because the new system basically defaults 90% of paths to AI anyone who's anyone can beat good pathers. With this info it stops this.

That said, if the above isn't negotiable can I still post cal lag paths in this thread? (Not on OP's post. You didn't delete my post; is why I'm asking)

i thing cal lag should be posted - i tried caught up in you using the path in you opening post, and due to my cal lag it didn't work out at all, when i cal'd to -300 i was able to use the path (not sure which cal lag number is required for that path, but 110 did not work though
