|
|
I got an xbox 360 specifically for Rock Band and such, being that it was by far the best platform choice for it initially (and overall IMO).
Id rather get a PS4 this time around than an Xbone.
I get that my (old, decrepit, barely functional) 360 Guitars wont work with a PS4 because the controller adapters are brand specific (right?)... but what about the DLC...
I know we havent seen a formal announcement yet but does anyone have any idea if im gonna be forced to stick with Microsoft to keep my old library? _________________

DLC will only carry forward within the same console family (360 -> XB1, PS3 -> PS4). This is something beyond Harmonix's control. Getting Microsoft to honor Sony purchases and vice versa is forcing them to give up their cut of the sale and they have little motivation to do that. |

I'm pretty sure the fact that DLC only transfers within the same console family was known as soon as DLC transferring at all was known. _________________

No Ion support was the final straw that killed RB4 for me. |

No Ion support out of the box is not surprising considering the Ion kit uses a console specific brain, so a 360 brain Ion won't work in an Xbox One. And the adapter for older gen controllers is wireless, and the Ion is wired. lol.
My expectation is either:
1. Ion Audio releases XB1 and PS4 compatible control modules
2. Some electronics whiz comes up with a DIY control module
or
3. Ion owners will have to get a standard electric drum brain and a midi adapter
none of which is available yet because there's no need yet lol _________________

It seems that information is new as of today. Shame they can't make the Xbox 360 Ion work as well. For me, Ion is still effectively dead in RB4. |

Seems doable but pricey what with needing to gut a wireless drum kit and get a bunch of adapter pieces.
I'm sure Ion will release an XB1 brain in due course.. but if not, that is a VERY compelling reason to ditch my 360 DLC (not like RB3 will quit working any time soon) and buy a PS4 instead of an XB1. _________________

This is literally the first time for me logging in for 5 years. I'm absolutely blown away I still remember my password/username.
ANYWAY, Can you give me more information on this? I really want to be able to use my 360 Ion drums on RB4 for PS4 but it sounds like it is going to be impossible.
By ION support I'd imagine you just mean, purchasing NEW PS4 ion drums? Sigh. _________________

Well, cross compatibility of using an Xbox controller on a Playstation is NEVER gonna happen for the same reasons why DLC carry over is only within the same console family.
That said, if you found a PS3 ION drum brain you could certainly use the rest of your existing kit. There aren't new drum brains for the new consoles, and ION hasn't really said anything about RB4 other than how getting their controllers to work is HMX's problem. (The DIY wireless drum brain also should work assuming you can find a PS3/PS4 stock kit.)
