Some of my DLC doesn't load properly when I am playing in 'custom mode' (offline, TU4, etc..) when I go to play the song I get the black screen and "Unable to load song, skipping..." message. The only way I can recognize when a song will do it is that the album art doesn't show nor does the preview play when hovering over it.

I haven't found and correlation between the songs that are affected by this; some are from RB1 era, some of RB2 and RB3, I have tried redownloading the songs but it hasn't worked. What else can i try?

Did you buy them on one Xbox and then switch to another?

If you, so you need to transfer the licences using Microsoft's website and then re-download (though it only downloads updated keys, so it's fast, but queueing them on the website is not).

I am just now hopping onto the customs scene, so I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I am experiencing the same issues as the OP. I have switched consoles, but am pretty sure I redownloaded all the licenses already. I hadn't noticed any issue with my previous owned DLC until importing the customs into the game. My purchased RBN songs also show as demos now. Is this all tied together? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you everyone in the customs scene for all the hard work and the new life breathed into RB!
