I just got my best pinball run ever. It took over a year and more than 100 attempts to pull off. I'll edit this post with details once I get the pictures together and the video on Youtube. Consider this a placeholder for now. _________________

SOMETHING SOMETHING THE GLORY OF LOVE (if I knew the song that would be better)
Be more prepared; you chug coffee but can't even have ketchup packets to throw at the screen? All the other red Yoshis of the world are ashamed. It's a good thing I'm a green Yoshi, or else I might hate you.
That run was insane, I combed through the stream last night so I could see it. The 2nd and 3rd ball were great, and that 4th ball was incredible. Probably the best 5 lane pinball run ever, and I would put it next to my Shooting Star and If You're Wondering if I Want You To runs as the best pinball runs ever (also TJ's crazy run of Song of the Century, TEACH ME YOUR MAGIC).
You're always making splashes on the Blitz scene, even with your spotty play nowadays. _________________

I've been working on a lot of Flame Note scores lately and I figured I would go ahead and post some of my recent highlights. These Days and Shine are probably my two best setlist scores now and were both extremely strong runs in terms of maintaining Blitz Mode while juggling two instruments at once. Go With the Flow was one of the fastest songs I've ever juggled, but I can't justify my last 100,000 points with anything other than dumb luck. My last Flame Note chain just wouldn't quit until long after Bandmate ran out.
I now have over 1,000,000 points in 35/55 of the Rock Band 1 exports. I think 45/55 may be possible, but it will require some really good runs to pull off.
Blitz Setlist:
These Days 1,575,069 (#1 cross-platform)
Shine 1,762,520 (#1 cross-platform)
So Far Away 1,014,305 (#1 Xbox 360, second ever 1,000,000+ score)
Kids in the Street 915,415 (#1 Xbox 360, beating malkieriking's Pinball run on PS3 by exactly 2 points)
Rock Band 1:
Go With the Flow 1,335,364 (#1 cross-platform, WTF score)
Mississippi Queen 1,021,885 (#1 cross-platform, first ever 1,000,000+ score)
Blood Doll 1,018,669 (#1 cross-platform, first ever 1,000,000+ score)
In Bloom 1,540,526 (#1 cross-platform)
The Hand That Feeds 1,226,036 (#1 cross-platform)
Dead on Arrival 822,143 (#1 cross-platform, screenshot from stream)
DLC/RBN
2112 4,564,759 (#1 cross-platform)
SEX 405,606 (#1 cross-platform)
I also got my first ever 50 bounce pinball in Give It Away, but the rest of my run was average and my final score was nowhere near zage's score. Either way, I might still be able to improve with pinball. We'll see what happens. _________________

lol2points.
How do you do this with Flame, man? It seems nearly impossible to keep Flame AND Blitz going at the same time once they start showing up often enough. Or at least when I do it.
I tried Flame on Gemini (just to try it cuz 3 lanes). Once they started showing up, like, one note right after the last one (and maybe 2 lanes over if I was on gtr or drums), it seems so hard to get to them, especially without one on Bass to bridge. No idea how you keep up on more than 3 lanes '
EDIT: Also, I suppose it wasn't answered based on where it was, but do you not even worry about the multipliers and checkpoints when you get a pinball run going? _________________

The secret to Flame Notes has to do with the game's extremely loose timing window. With enough practice and perfect calibration, it's possible to play two notes that happen at the same time by hitting one note slightly early, switching lanes, and then hitting the second note slightly late all in one split-second motion. With enough practice, it's possible to execute this motion with many different note patterns at faster speeds while maintaining Blitz Mode the whole time. I very rarely react to the Flame Notes themselves and instead focus on juggling the largest amount of notes possible. With Bandmate active and perfect juggling between two instruments, 4-lane songs behave exactly like 3-lane songs do without juggling.
As far as pinball runs are concerned, multipliers aren't very important at all in most cases. While I will go for them given a convenient opportunity, the pinball itself is always my primary focus. I will hit a multiplier if it's blocking my immediate view of the note highway, but only to make the pinball easier to follow. That being said, multipliers can be marginally important for longer and faster songs and they shouldn't be completely ignored if the opportunity to collect them presents itself. Just remember that the pinball always has a higher scoring potential than actually playing the song. It may seem crazy and/or poorly balanced, but that's how the game was designed. _________________

I understand the whole "hit two notes simultaneously" (I think I had/have to do that to get the Jackpot on Thief I's solo to keep it going properly, or get that one OD phrase during the keys sustains after the...4th checkpoint), it's just very difficult
And...I guess that does make some sense, though I obviously focus on multipliers when there aren't pinballs going.
Should I try to play regularly while the ball's still going slow (like, during the first 1-3 bumps)? And what about during solos, especially when it's multi-lane solos or solos where I don't have OD?) _________________

When the pinball is on its first few bounces, I hit notes as the pinball is moving away from me and ignore them when the pinball gets close to me again. I only focus on hitting overdrive notes and multipliers that happen to be within reach though. I would suggest overhitting occasionally to avoid going into Blitz Mode because the sudden change in highway speed as well as the decreased field of vision can cause an early pinball drop.
As far as solos are concerned, don't worry about them too much. Getting a pinball over 20 bounces will do much more for your score in the long run and you can easily make up for the points you don't get from the actual solo. In fact, solos are the perfect opportunity to get a really good pinball going because there usually aren't any notes or multipliers obstructing your view of the pinball. _________________
