  • Drive by Incubus

(This track will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system June 13th)

Well, I really like Drive at least. But why not another 3 pack with Stellar and Megalomaniac?

I'm guessing they're getting ready for the Blitz push now.

Also, it's gotta be Love Shack for the B-52s future release.

Just when you thought 3-song weeks were bad...

If you'd checked Henry's twitter yesterday, they had licences pulled for two songs yesterday that were supposed to be in this announcement, so they didn't have time to get replacements in place.

Which is also why we got an upcoming artist announcement. ;)

Better DLC than no DLC, but still, wow.

At least it's Drive.

EDIT: Alright, what espher said makes sense.
But also, no protar for Drive?

Ah, thanks for posting that here. Now it really stings knowing that this was probably going to be a 3 pack. Still, I wonder if this has ever happened before.

Something tells me they charted Pro to one of the pulled songs.

Wasn't a three-pack -- iirc he said they weren't Incubus songs, as well. Let me find the tweet.

Preemptive level setting that won't be mentioned in the press release tomorrow: last min drama leaves us w/ 1 RB song to announce tomorrow.

Aaron Trites ‏@HMXhenry
Just wanted to clarify it's not deliberate or a DLC trend. "Licensing is hard". We'll announce a few upcoming bands as a make good. Enjoy!

Aaron Trites ‏@HMXhenry
@wreichlein Ha. That's a good question. Don't know for sure, but guessing around 20 that were licensed and charted sitting in limbo.

Aaron Trites ‏@HMXhenry
@fcmlefty We do have completed songs, but submitting for 1st party approval takes 2-6 weeks depending on console. Worst possible timing.

Aaron Trites ‏@HMXhenry
@ComplicitOwl They weren't Incubus songs, so no pack concerns. Still possible they'll come out later.

etc.

Other than Still Alive on April Fools, I don't believe there has ever been a week with less than three songs. This is really strange. Why would you pull licensing at the very last minute after you've gone through all the trouble in the first place? I really don't understand the total unwillingness on the part of music labels and certain artists to license their songs for Rock Band. You don't have to do anything. It is literally free money. Idiots.

Oh, definitely, I just think Drive would've been great for an upgrade. Makes you wonder which song was going to have it, eh?

I was more meaning if they'd ever had licensing pulled at the last minute, and one of those tweets confirms that yes, it's happened before (over 20 songs in limbo? Jeez).

And thanks for posting the tweets espher. I'm absolutely hopeless with Twitter.

I am going to assume this is what happened with Party in the USA.

You know, when you think about it, I don't think 20+ songs (I assume less than 30) in nearly five years of operation isn't too bad. But then it really makes you wonder why on Earth they would get pulled in the first place. \O_o/

"Alright guys, our Aerosmith 6 pack is ready to go, now we just... What's that about Guitar Hero?"

I imagine another reason might be that the band give the ok, but the label then get wind of it and step in. Or vice versa.
