What are the main diferencies between the Logitech official PS2 Headset and the Logitech ( Rock Band ) Mic ?

I use a headset when I do solo band world tour. Not the same level of precision as the regular mic, but respectable. |

I spent a lot of time using the regular 360 headset... not sure about a logitech one but I can still FC stuff (on expert) even with the crappy MS 360 headset.
Just had to turn down the sensitivity on the mic, a LOT. It picks up way too much ambient noise otherwise. _________________

What I've noticed about my headset mic is that, while nice for playing an instrument at the same time, it's really irritable for registering your vocals compared to the normal mic. Enough that it cuts in and out and affects the pitch judgement.
The most frustrating thing is activating OD. I swear I was SHOUTING and it wouldn't even register half the time. _________________

This is easily my new favorite post on ScoreHero.
To answer OP's question, the mic is going to be a lot more reliable than the headset, it'll pick up way more subtle things you do with your voice, and it'll sound better, too.
If you have to use a headset, you could, but if you can get a mic you definitely should. _________________

Just don't get the Lips mic. I couldn't FC almost ANYTHING with that mic. But when I tried the headset (which isn't as good as a good logitech mic, but still better than the Lips mic), one of the first FCs I got with the headset was an impossible song. The mic doesn't necessarily make the singer, but it really helps. |

The OP's question is from January 2008; that spam was an extreme necro.
Anyway going forward the headset mic isn't even usable, so it's a completely moot point now. _________________

The Lips mic doesn't work right in RB2, try it in RB3 some time.
Also, no one else noticed this thread is two years old and got necro'd? This question is irrelevant in RB3 since you can't use headsets for vocals. _________________

I already threw it away, sad face. And no, I didn't realize it was necro'd. Fail.
I'll probably just get a mic for Christmas. I'll also be getting 2 more mylars and cymbals for PRO drums, but that's not pertaining to this topic really. |

Headsets can be used in RB3, unless this is exclusive to the PS3 (It's a rocketfish headset, which can be found in best buy if anyone's interested). Nevertheless, I'd recommend a microphone over a headset due to to the advantages people listed above. |
The standard xbox headset could be used for vocals in earlier games, but not in TBRB, GDRB, and RB3. I mean if there's something that's basically a USB mic but wraps around your head, of course that's fine. _________________

Headsets are useless compared to microphones. The detection is terrible |

USB headsets work fine (my Plantronics 650 works on my PS3 since it registers as a USB mic as well as a headset). The Xbox 360 ones that plug into the controllers, though... none of those work for vocals since TB:RB. _________________
