that might be cool if it syncs up with the music. it doesn't come out for 6 months though....by that time I'll have a REAL band....then i could probably use a light/smoke show  maybe i will buy this lol

my skepticism comes from the fact that either the light effects part will be too powerful and blind people or it will be low intensity and underwhelming.

It's probably (nearly definitely) a light fixture with a gel in the front of it. If it's not intense enough, just replace the lamp with a stronger one.
