FoB is of course terrible, but Deep Purple is solid stuff, even if that intro takes forever for the guitar to kick in lol Still not sure if I'm gonna get it though for just the...3 minutes of guitar goodness. Probably will end up passing on for that reason.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that. That moves it further up my list. Too bad it's the other way round with This Ain't a Scene.

This pretty much sums up all my feelings on the week.

I'm always happy for more classic metal/prog bands

They could still chart that as a BRE. I don't think all the charts have to end at the exact same spot. If they do this though, it will be basically impossible to nail the post-BRE notes with that drum roll, seeing as the roll mechanic could stand some tweaking.

I usually find the hardest part of the rolls is holding combo after them, I can usually maintain combo during the roll just fine as long as there's no bass under it, so if the last thing in the song is a roll mechanic it shouldn't be too bad. Still nasty for a post-BRE thing, though.

Deep Purple: nah. I just hit the YouTube link and it's over 10 minutes long. Fuck that. Not really a fan anyway.

I always felt like I was the only one who wasn't a fan of really long songs. I'll still probably get Child in Time because I expect it to be fun to play, but in general I strongly prefer songs in the 3-6 minute range.

I saw "DLC for August 16: Fall O..." from the main board.

I'm very disappointed that there's no Fall Of Troy DLC this week. Pass for me, I don't really like Deep Purple very much, and while FOB is nice, it's nothing new or exciting.

This.

As silly and corny as boy-band-ish pop rock bands are, their harmony vocals are usually awesome. (Listen to a Backstreet Boys song sometime. Imagine those vocals charted in RB). I will be getting the DP song for sure, and probably FoB depending on just how much harmony there is.

Wait, how the hell does Child in Time not have Pro Guitar & Bass? It's crying out for it. This is Do You Feel Like We Do all over again.
DYFLWD probably suffered from having effects on the guitar making it hard for the audio team to figure out the correct notes. Child in Time might suffer from quality issues on the source as well.

It's also possible songs with long breaks aren't considered good candidates, or 10+ minute songs just don't work with pro mode for some other functional reason (We have yet to get one I think).

Anyway, I'll listen to FOB, but not a huge fan. Not sure if Child in Time grabs me or not, so I might pass, or I might snag everything. Leaning towards pass.

Damn you, Harmonix. Where the hell is "The Take's Over, The Break's Over"? (Apart from on Guitar Hero)

Welp, at least that pack has Dance, Dance on it. That makes me feel a bit better...It'll probably be the only one I get from that pack, though.

As for Deep Purple...well, I dislike HMX's allergy to releasing anything more than a single at a time. I mean, no doubt about it, Child in Time is a spectacular song which I will be buying. But still, c'mon. MOAR.

Also of note in the whole Pro Guitar issue is that Tuesday's Gone, the longest song in the Skynyrd pack was the only one without an upgrade.
