you know what? I've had zero issues with the calibration at all with Rock Band 2 or 3, and i am using a 40" LCD television, i have never needed to calibrate anything, it works fine. Meanwhile, my sister's 56" was "calibrated" by someone that claimed was the "best" settings, and the timing window is absolutely horrible. FC'ing songs is not that much an issue as far as i'm concerned, i seem to be running across the 99% glitch often, but not enough to whine about it.

This. I've had no calibration problems with vox on RB3 and I can sing on RB3 WAY better than RB2. Probably because the RB3 engine is more like the Beatles engine and that engine is what I started vox on. And probably because I'm really good with vibrato. Not saying I abuse it or anything though. >__>

Tbh it's drums that I despise. The engine imo is way tighter because most stuff I miss on RB3 drums I almost always get on RB2. It could be calibration but I don't know if that's a worthy comparison to vox. I've attempted to calibrate the drums multiple times to see if I can get the same results as back on RB2 but no success since the day I got it. Despite these multiple re-calibration attempts, none have affected me for vox.
