Won't make a difference. There will always be lag, especially with rhythm games. And it might just make it worse considering the note tracks will be more scrunched up than on a widescreen. |
I personally straight up know you are wrong. There is ZERO Lag on a crt.
However, it does change the proportion... |

Lag is relative. People are used to different settings, I know I tend to have the hitbox centered slightly before a note, so if someone else is used to hitting slightly late then we'd have a tough time playing together. Not that we couldn't play together, just that we'd be unlikely to simultaneously FC a tough song. _________________

The tv may have zero lag but that doesn't mean the controllers don't. And what bclare said is true too. _________________

Yeah, I bought a crt tv rather than an HD for hardly any more money simply for GH and RB. Every single GH and RB had zero lag EXCEPT RB3. Add in the fact that guitar, drums, and vocals all have different lag settings and it gets really annoying. But regardless, it doesn't matter to me what you guys decide on, I'll be there . _________________

Lee, there is no difference In lag in RB3 from RB2.
The timing window is different.
You can't hit one note if the note behind it is at the "hit-box"
But I think your getting screwed by the POV visual difference. They moved the Fretboard lower to make it look like GH, so it appears that the notes are being hit earlier on the board, when they actually are not. _________________

When I played rb 3, there was a huge difference in lag...and yes it was on a CRT TV. It definitely wasn't the hit box haha. _________________

There is absolutely a difference in lag in every single RB game. None of them are the same (except maybe the track packs. I wouldn't know about those). _________________

If your talking about video lag, well than yes... that's obvious, every single game has different video lag, But it shouldnt be something that is overwhelming and makes it so difficult that you can't hit notes...
I have the same calibration on RB2, RB3, GHWoR, and GH3.
No difference for me... O_o _________________

You must be lucky then haha. I think most people with CRT TVs have to change calibration to about 20 ms audio/ 20 ms video or something like that. It's a big enough lag difference with 0/0 that patterns are generally ok, but rolls are annoying. _________________

/facepalm
When you guys set it to 20/20, your offsetting it, so all your doing is making it so you hit the notes earlier, without it being any visually different.
As I explained earlier, the timing window is different in this game, you can't hit notes when another one is at the "hit-box"
same goes for GHWoR, it's just less noticeable because of the looser timing window xD
but if you guys prefer to play on 20/20, thats fine. For me that would be no bother, basically no difference, just can't hit the notes super early ;O

I did these with a 0/0, so IDK what you guys are whining about :O
and I know alot of people do the 20/20 trick for Ties that Bind, to give a little time to fall behind. I prefer not to, idk why O_o _________________

The +20/20 trick does not work for everyone. I don't know why, but that's how it is. It didn't work for me and it's clear it doesn't work for you too. _________________

It's nothing that 'works'. It's not a glitch in the system, it's just a preference.
Some people would rather have the ability to hit the notes a little later. _________________
