Basically, I just got keys today, and I've jumped straight into Pro mode. I've noticed that if I practice a section enough, I find it easier to play it looking at my Keyboard rather than the notes on the screen. Is this good or bad? _________________

It's fine, as long as you can memorize sections, I think. |

The less you have to look the better, but I don't think it's a big deal. It becomes a bad thing in the context of RB if you don't have the chart totally memorized, since you need to look up to see what is coming next. I have the same problem you do except on pro guitar. You want to do it less as you get better. _________________

In the event of a code red, please do not orgasm over an accomplishment of an elite player. That is because the player is currently in the zone. You will run of out of jizz before he is finished.
Thank you for listening and please save all orgasms for the end of the ride. |

You generally don't want to stare at your hands, unless:
a) You're a really good player, i.e. you can pass Roundabout on x-pro; or
b) You know the song off by heart.
The reason is that for correct muscle memory to develop, your brain needs to trust that your hands and eyes can work separately. If you frequently stare at your hands while playing, the brain programs the eyes and hand(s) to depend upon one another.
The same applies to two-handed playing.
What you want to do is develop a technique where your right hand can operate by itself, without relying on the eyes (or left hand) for help. It's fine to use your eyes/left hand for difficult passages on expert, as long as you can remove them and continue playing. |
