Introduction:

Welcome to the first thread in this forum (created on launch day 10/26/2010)!

Standard: A mode characterized by a five fret/note chart that can be played with either a keyboard or guitar controller.

Now that Rock Band 3's available to everyone, the community can discuss with ease the FC difficulty of keyboard charts available on-disc. The list is and will be a work in progress for a while, until the community comes to a consensus.

If you're new to RB3, to play keyboard charts with a guitar controller, the "Guitar Immortal" goal/accomplishment/trophy must be unlocked (Get 5 stars on 50 songs for guitar/bass on medium or higher). On the other hand, this feature's also available via "All Instruments Mode", but scores aren't recorded to the leaderboards.

Quote:
General Rules:
~ This thread's going to focus on songs that have keyboard charts.

~ Songs can be FCed with a guitar or keyboard controller on only expert.

~ Keep discussion civilized. I shouldn't have to mention this at all, but some people forget about this.

~ It's obvious that there's some aspects that are both easier or harder on keyboard and guitar controllers. Some accomplishments may be held in high regard if they we're done with a keyboard rather than a guitar controller and vice versa; but, that approach's inherently subjective.

Therefore, if any song's FCed on either a guitar or keyboard controller, it's FCed no matter what. It's been indirectly confirmed by JCirri already, but I'm just letting everyone know here.

~ If you believe a song belongs somewhere else in either of the lists, please be specific about where in particular it should be placed and what list you're referring to.

Example: Whip It should be #10 in the (keyboard/guitar) controller list.

Honestly I don't really agree with this thread. Playing keys charts with your guitar isn't going to give you any new skills. I think that keys should only be played with keys controller.

And second, I think that legacy charts should be pretty much ignored. Pro Keys is where it's at. Roundabout will probably be the Young Man Blues of this section :-)

Opinion: "Standard mode" is probably more accurate than "Legacy". There isn't really anything legacy about playing 5-keys mode on a keyboard controller.

IMO, songs on keys that were FC'd using a guitar shouldn't count. Honestly, an FGFC wouldn't take very long if you could do so unless I'm missing something. Plus, isn't keys supposed to bring a new challenge? Well, I guess if you used a guitar to FGFC the game on keys, you can claim "RB3 Keys Guitar FGFC, or "RB3 Keys Songs FC'd" with a guitar logo. However, I consider a true RB3 Keys FGFC done on KEYS.

You can consider whatever you want, but the game supports playing standard keys charts on guitar, and JCirri has said that it's fine for scoretracking, similar to playing older games with the standard controllers. If it's approved by SH for scoretracking, and the in-game leaderboards don't distinguish, then it's silly not to count them here. Besides, I think most people who play keys would rather try Pro, so the hardest standard charts may only end up being FCed on guitars anyway.

I think you should skip 63 and put Roundabout at 64. Seriously, fuck.

There's a way of unlocking it so you don't have to go to all-instruments mode to play keys on guitar?

Apparently the Guitar Immortal (5*s on 50 RB3 songs on guitar) unlocks that.

Ah, ok. Do they have to be on Expert or can they be on any difficulty?
