"Nihilanth" by Gatling was just released to the Rock Band Network and can be bought for 80MSP. To get more excitement about the song going around, I've decided to have a small contest:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can pass the song on expert guitar OR pass the song with a full band on expert (guitar, drums, bass), you will receive:
1) An mp3 of a song from our upcoming album (which may be coming to Rock Band next...)
-- Listen here
2) An mp3 of a random song off of our instrumental debut album "Hen In A Pumpkin!" (which "Nihilanth" is from)
Please either get a screenshot or upload a video to YouTube of you passing the song!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There will also be a prize for the first to FC the song, I'll update the OP with more info soon.
Prize is not a yacht. _________________

I'd imagine that an MSP card would work fine for an FC prize.
Since, ya know, it's not like you'd ever actually need to buy one. _________________

I just purchased the song, Picture coming soon.
Also, I heard you were looking for lyrics for this song. Have you tried these?

Cool! You really think it sounds that much like Hangar 18?
Our new song has vocals, as we now have a vocalist. "Nihilanth" was written a long time ago, when I was 15 (hence the poor recording quality ) _________________

I basically FCed everything before the solofest. So close to 5-stars! _________________

The song structure is Hangar 18. Whether that's a good or bad thing is a totally different debate (I mean, every pop song is pretty much the same structure), but I mean... it's Hangar 18. |

Exactly. The song doesn't /sound/ the same, but structurally... Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, SOLO, riff, SOLO, riff, SOLO, riff, SOLO, riff (repeat ad nauseum) is pretty much identical to Hangar 18.
Not that this is bad.
I love Hangar 18.
Also, you wrote/played this when you were 15? That's pretty impressive if you ask me. |

Hangar 18 was an inspiration to me when writing that song- so yeah, they are structurally similar. But I don't really think the sound the same.

As do I.

Thanks man, it was one of the first songs we really recorded properly. I also played the bass on this song, and only this song, because we were a two-man band at this point without a proper bassist. I like to think I did a decent job for not really playing bass at all. :P Thanks though _________________

Well... If you want to be picky, Nihilanth doesn't really have an intro like H18, it just dives right into the first 'verse'. Also, H18 has a solo between the 1st chorus & 2nd verse, which Nihilanth also lacks. (Basically, it needs moar solos to be exactly like H18 ) _________________

Indeed, I'd say it's a top 3 or so FC in RB, not counting strum limit shit, along with maybe Burn and Death Quota? I dunno. But it was community tech FCd in a day, so I can definitely see it being FCd. _________________
