I think you would be able to if you got 1/8" to 1/4" adapters and mounting equipment for the cymbals. I don't know if that really ends up being worth it given that you can get an Ion cymbal with mounting equipment for $40 here:

I'm pretty sure they won't work due to the fact that they are specially coded to work with the RB2/RB3 stock drums.

...what?

They're just lumps of plastic with piezos mounted in them. The programming/logic is all in the drum brain, not the pads. >_>

If you get plug adapters they'd probably work, but keep in mind the Ion uses 1/4" plugs instead of 1/8".

Even if they did work, they'd be awkwardly small and difficult to mount. If you don't have any cymbals, your best bet is probably the sale Rock Band Parts is having (3 Roadie Cymbals for $100). It's a good deal more expensive, but from what I hear they're pretty good (I haven't tried them, but people who have them generally like them better than the official Ion Cymbals) and a good deal cheaper than getting Pintech cymbals.

Nope, they're not just lumps of plastic with piezos. They have a PCB in them which changes the signal into something specially coded for the RB2 kits.

In order to use these cymbals with an Ion kit, you'd have to open them up and bypass that PCB, effectively wire the piezo directly to the output jack.
