Vasoline Bass is impossible I believe. I took 3 different paths, one i know was optimal, and end up 300 pts off. 1st place =D,but still no G*.

I want someone to prove me wrong though.

If you are sure it's optimal, then try to squeeze EVERYTHING! 3 more notes under OD would get the G*, so It's worth a shot, although it may not be possible.

Three notes? Try ONE. 25 points per note with a 12x multiplier (Bass Groove with Overdrive) = 300 points each.
That's what makes Bass so annoying, there are several songs where the maximum score is literally within spitting distance of Gold Stars.

I swear, they put the Max Score = ~500 point below GS Cutoff songs in there JUST to drive me to drink.

Actually, it's in between those two, it'd require 2 more notes squeezed, rather than 1 or 3. batsmak's reasoning was correct except for using the wrong multiplier. One more squeeze is worth 300 points, but only 150 more than the non-squeezed 150.

Hopefully that makes sense, I can't quite word it how I want to.

Ah, good point, I forgot half of those points would have already counted. But as it turns out, it might be just one note after all - when am I going to LEARN not to more precisely determine 5GS cutoffs on songs like this? It just makes it even MORE infuriating:

The 5* cut-off is between 76,560-76,584 (not the 76,700 I'd originally guestimated). With the new formula of 1.5195x, that means the Gold Star cutoff is between 116,333-116,370.

Blob's high score ... is 116,258.

But if there's anything that could determine how accurate this formula IS, this'd be it. It's *possible* the cutoff could be slightly higher, but only by a few points, and certainly no higher than 116,400.

One damn note, potentially even less than 100 points. Bass, thou art a fickle mistress, indeed.

It was in regards to Vocals - Vasoline was one of the first songs from the "Career Songs" that was confirmed impossible to Gold Star. It was part of what motivated me to go all-out in determining Guitar (and Bass) cutoffs in an attempt to figure out the 'logic' behind the 5GS cutoff multipliers.

And while I have a lot of math and a lot of cutoffs - the 'logic' still eludes me.

http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2087 was the thread on Vasoline Vocals and trying to figure out where the 'missing points' might have gone.
