Photobucket & Iron Maiden

Wasn't sure where to put this, so I chose here since it sort of involves the website.

I noticed as I logged into photobucket today that I had pictures that they had removed for being against terms of use. I thought that was funny since all I use that account for is hosting score pictures and banners for signatures. I then went to check which ones were removed and noticed that all 6 were by Iron Maiden (2 pictures of 2 Minutes to Midnight from RB2 and GH5, 3 Run to the Hills pictures, and one Powerslave picture). Thinking something was up, I did a search for Iron Maiden on photobucket and found that about 75% of the pictures on each page were gone.

Anyone know what's up? I guess I'll use imageshack for Maiden stuff, but it's just inconvenient since it's not all in one place.

I think its to do with copyright reasons but i'm not entirley sure!!

But uh, I don't see how they can claim copyright infringement because the name of a song is on a picture...

yeah, i had the same thing happen to me

they took down 5 of my Maiden Vocal FC pictures

Run To The Hills OV
Number of the Beast OV
The Trooper
The Clairvoyant
and 2 Minutes 2 Midnight

it would have to be a copyright issue, since nothing in an FC proof could be considered pornographic, vulgar, or in any other way offensive or harmful

so far it's only Iron Maiden stuff, but it could easily spread to other bands

i have no idea what to do about it as far as photobucket is concerned

hopefully they'll come to the conclusion that having a song's title in plain text in a picture doesn't violate copyrights, since it shouldn't
especially since it's from rock band which the songs were licensed for

if anything, it's free advertising. it doesn't infringe on any of the rights of the band
i would assume its the record company filing claims against it and not the band, since filing these claims would only serve to hurt the bands reputation and alienate their fans, and they gain nothing for removing these pictures.

That's really weird. I didn't have any of my pics for runs on Iron Maiden songs taken down, at least for now (one on RB1, whatever ammount on GH) o_O

Maybe it takes a while for everyone to be hit, so it means that I should stay with my guard up

Weird, just noticed mine today...

I had pics for scores from GH3 NotB and RB1 RttH. Somehow, only the NotB pics were taken - I still have my RttH ones. So far.

First vids on YT, now pics on Photobucket... next, words on wordpress??

What the everliving fuck? How can they say that posting a picture of text spelling the name of their song is copyright infringement? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard on the copyright infringement subject, seriously.

I mean I can understand that getting free music and albums is bad but just putting info on a banner with a cd picture??? It's getting a little annoying that copyright infringements are more strict now adays. When will it stop!!!???

Probably never, since illegal downloads are still occuring today sadly.

I don't see where any of mine were affected. For those who did have pictures removed, were your photos tagged and/or named with descriptive file names?

(mine aren't, and they're still up ((for now)). not saying that that means anything -- just an observation.)
