So I've decided to go ahead and perform the famous Ion mesh head mod. I just have a couple of questions
-What heads should I use? I was thinking Pearl MFH heads since they're cheap and seem like they're pretty good.
-Is there any way to do this mod without hanger tape? (I hear it's fairly hard to find)
-Can you replace the foam inside the pads after you mod it with drum silencer and if so, should I?
Thanks in advance. |

Here are your answers ;P
-I would recommend Roland MH-8's, but if your not willing to spend alot get the MFH heads. Or you could try using Pintech mesh.
-I'm pretty sure you have to use hanger tape. It may be hard to find because it's also called Plumbers Tape. I found mine easily at my local hardware store.
-I'm not sure what you mean by drum silencer, but the foam i'm sure you can replace. Your talking about the one you put over your sensor once you remount it in the pad, right? |

Yes i am. Drum silencer is a synthetic material put on acoustic drum heads to silence them. |

You don't need the foam at all in the Mesh Head Mod so it doesn't matter |

Wait, you don't? Doesn't the foam cause the pad to hit? |

I'm not sure where you got that idea. There MUST be contact of some kind between the piezo and the head. |

Please tell me where you need the foam in the mesh head mod then, considering I specifically said in the mesh head mod |

That would be here:
Or is there a different Ion Mesh Head Mod? |

Actually in most mesh head mods it's removed |

Could you link to such a mod then? I'm only familiar with this one and I'm curious about the alternatives to using foam. |

I've never seen the foam removed in the mesh head mods I've seen. Just like JWiderman said, could you show us an example? I'm curious to see this too. |

Aren't there two layers of foam, the one that is exposed when you remove the rubber and the one beneath the metal plate? _________________

The Mesh Head Mod will work perfectly fine without either the thin gray foam or the thicker black foam. Some/most mods have the gray foam still in the head, however the mod works fine with the earplugs put directly on the plastic disc. |

Search CorruptedHomeless on YouTube
He is the only one who FC'd Powerslave, and has other amazing FC's and he didn't use foam in his mesh head mod, he has a tutorial for it as well
In a lot of the mods they say remove the foam carefully and some may be left on the plastic disc[/url] |
