Unfortunately, the vVvGamer account was just hacked, and all of our videos, the Rock Band ones plus the 1000+ other videos we had, were all deleted. We're doing everything we can to fix the situation, so hopefully we will be back at work soon. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.

=(

Sadface....

Also, when you guys get back up and fix everything, and everything passes through, any chance of a review for Guitars Suck? It'd be cool to have Hellashes back on guitar for that too, ahaha, I think it's like Jordan V2, so it'd be fitting, to say the least.

Either way, keep it up. O:

Episode #7 is now live! We'd like to congratulate our vocalist, vVv Tobias911, for getting married last week! Although this meant that Tobias couldn't play at all this week, the rest of the band felt that the show must go on. We decided to devote an episode solely to instrumental songs, so enjoy!

Episode #7 - 6/1/10 (special instrumental episode!)

songs reviewed this episode:
The Great Plains - Scale the Summit
Redemption - Andy Timmons
Flight of the Bumblebee - Paul Henry Smith & The Fauxharmonic Orchestra

And just a quick update for everyone, we're working on getting the videos for the previous songs back up on our channel after someone hacked in and deleted all of our videos, but in the meantime we only have the written reviews for each. Until then, each song should have a full band video some where on youtube if you really want to see a full band vid. We'll keep you updated as well reupload the videos.

Great reviews!

I'll probably pick up Scale the Summit soon.

And I really dig Redemption, but it's unfortunate about the guitar charting. Unfortunately, I'm quite anal about note charting so the fact that it's charted poorly would be way too annoying for me to ever enjoy playing it. Which is too bad because it would be a blast to play if it were charted properly.

And as much as I love classical music (in fact, I'm a classically-trained musician), that version of Flight of the Bumblebee just sounds awful. Sure the guitar part looks fun, but there should just not be a drum set in the piece. I probably won't be picking this up, though I hope the other Fauxharmonic Orchestra pieces sound better.

If I may make a suggestion, how about a country focused episode? There was some crazy country charts put up recently.

The singer from Kiev sounds nothing like Maroon 5.

Seriously. They sound 3000% more like Radiohead than Maroon 5, and I mean that in a good way.

Also, I severely disagree with the drum review of that song. It's easily one of my favorite RBN songs to play on drums. The "one beat that lasts through most of the song" lasts for maybe the first half, and in that first half changes up quite a bit in small ways that make it not nearly as repetitive. There are at least 2 other repeating patterns in the song that change up similarly, and during nearly all the down time there's a different little melodic drum thing going on. The last thing I would ever call this song is repetitive.

Also, the main beat is reminiscent of Take the Money and Run, not only stylistically but in how it varies slightly every time. And nobody complains about playing that song on drums; I often see it near the top of peoples' favorites list.

+1 to this thread's awesomeness. I'm always looking for RBN songs that aren't in the "Cookie Monster Crabcore" genres* and this is very helpful.

I think it'd be great to ask each reviewer to name a more mainstream artist (or artist with an on-disc/DLC song already in Rock Band) that has a similar sound. It doesn't have to be perfect every time, just something in the neighborhood, sort of like Amazon or Netflix recommendations.

*Note to metal lovers: I like some of these song! I just can't take as steady diet of the stuff as RBN dishes out. It's like trying live on a diet of nothing but KFC Double Downs. Sometimes you just want a salad.

"gay" and "rape". You keep on using those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.
