Welcome to the vocal squeezing compilation thread!

The idea behind this thread is very simple, to compile the top recorded squeezes behind every activation of Rock Band songs. I believe this will help bolster more competition at the top, as well as allowing the top squeezers to know just where they are missing their points from, and when they hit an amazing squeeze. For now we are focusing with on-disc songs, but it is possible it will expand to more songs in the near future.

Notation
Each song will be listed in the following format:
    A Jagged Gorgeous Winter: 2/ (+0), 3/sk1 (+368), 3/ (+0)
    . [30000, 110368, 202368] => 214,368 (Vicroman20)

The first line contains the song name, and the path. For each activation the best recorded squeeze (out of 4000) is recorded. The second line contains the best possible score after the squeeze. If a song includes a score with (T), this is the best possible score after a tambourine section this section will be colored gray.

The final score lists the best end score with current listed squeezes. If the final score is red, it is below the 360/ps3 top score. If the final score is green, it is above the top score. A black final score matches the top score.

If you have achieved a higher squeeze on any song please post here both your score after the squeeze as well as how many points (out of 4000) you gained on the squeeze.

Many thanks to Icemage for his Excel spreadsheet which auto-generates much of what you will see below. Feel free to use this program to track your own or the communities squeezes. The details and link can be found Here .

This is a very good idea man. Shouldn't you just put the songs with the already optimal path up, and what about Painkller and the glitched 12 points you can get from the 1st activation?

I don't want to start an RB2 On Disc thread if we aren't gonna get scores for half the songs. I want this to be a pretty complete list that people will actually use, and Painkiller and Testify etc aren't exactly songs people will be coming to this thread too often for.

I'm gonna be all over this thread. I can only give you a couple that I know off the top of my head right now. But believe me, I will try and get you every single song on the RB2 Disc. Here's a couple to start off:

Pretend We're Dead:3/sk3(608), 2/sk2(560), 3/(72), 2/sk1(60)
Lazy Eye:3/((548) Or in my case, 552), 2/(0), 2/AT(0)
I Was Wrong:2/(404), 4/AT(0)
My Own Worst Enemy:3/sk2(712), 4/sk1(0)
Man in the Box:2/sk2(464), 2/(788), 3/(448)
Rob the Prez-O-Dent:2/(1,000), 3/(0), 3/(0)

I track this info a little differently, noting the last 3-4 digits after a squeeze and whether I know/think there are more points based on my current high and prior non-optimal runs. Something like:

Pretty Noose: 3/sk2-FRS, 3/sk1 FwO
000 / 5,768 / 171,768

Alive (Live): 3/sk3, 2/sk1, 2/, 2/sk3
2,640 (-40) / x,824 (-56) / 9,888 (-80) / 219,888 [0,064]
optimal: 680 / 920 / 064 / 220,064

I've always been willing to share this info anytime it was requested, even if it helps someone beat my current high score. I don't consider myself a "top squeezer" and truly just enjoy playing the game. Though it would be nice to know where some of those missing points are hiding!

@internetguy: If you're willing to wade through lots of optimal (and not-so-optimal) squeeze submissions from the community, I'd be happy to contribute.

For what it's worth, if vocal mechanics were well understood I could easily make a computer optimizer for them.

The trouble is, if there are too many glitched songs, then this is pretty hard.

The problem is there are just SO many mechanics of vocals. It would be easy to generate CLOSE to optimal paths, but when you start dealing with early windows and talkie squeezes, its gonna get damn tough to perfect.

In response to the other 2 =), I am glad you guys are all for this, and at least so far there is no negative response.

For now I would prefer not to start gathering squeezes yet, although its nice to have a couple suggestion. i really want to make sure we wait and let people read this and give their opinion if they feel they need to, although it is obviously nice to have the support of the current xplat vocalist =P.

Another thing to think about, and I am working with my current ideas to sort out, is to come up with a convention for how we want to keep track of this, but we can wait a little to decide exactly how to do this.

Just figured I would add another benefit of this. For now it seems RB2 paths are 100% optimal, however it took months to finally nail the last few. These squeezes will help people discover if a path is optimal, for instance Pretend We're Dead's final two activations would be great to use this to compare (those who followed the last month or two of the path discussion forum would understand.)

Anyways hope to hear from more soon...

As someone whose squeezing utterly sucks (40th all-console, which sucks around here) I wholly endorse this thread, and will be taking Vicro's first entries to the XBox tonight.

Another thing you might want to include is whether or not the thousands digit after a squeeze is Even, or Odd. Just to prevent any confusion on tough squeezes, early windows, or talky squeezes.

I'd be happy to help contribute if you decide to go along w/ this.

Great idea....monumental task.

But if anyone could do it, it'd be you IG

EDIT: Even though this would be awesome...I doubt I'd use it. I'm just not up for going back through and squeezing the f*** out of songs for a few measley points. It's just not that important to me, I'm not a great squeezer, and I don't have the time to go back and grind them out anyway. Plus we'll have Beatles soon, so I'll hardly play RB2 for a while there.

and....kudos to everyone sharing. Holding out on stuff like this to keep your top score is just....well, just lame. I'd happily share, if I were worth a sh** at squeezing in the first place.

Ok well its been quite a few days without a single negative post. I am not going to lie, after talking to a few vocalists I was expecting a huge outrage on this idea, so it's nice people are open to it. I guess this means we really are a community that just wants to open competition and not silently protect 1st places.

Anyways, I will redo the OP fairly soon so maybe we can start on On Disc songs for RB2. I doubt we will finish this list, but I would rather start on this so when RB:Beatles comes out people are familiar with the notation.

This is what we need to discuss. What's the best way to go about this notation. We have a few options in my mind, and I am willing to list to any others:

We have Vicromann's idea: Pretend We're Dead:3/sk3(608), 2/sk2(560), 3/(72), 2/sk1(60) ...these are the pts you can GAIN from each squeeze. (I am unsure if he has applied the 4x multiplier or not) So we can represent in this manner with or without the 4x multipler (thus if yoy go from 30000 to 300012 it could be (3) or (12).

We could also go "Ripleys" style:

Pretty Noose: 3/sk2-FRS, 3/sk1 FwO
000 / 5,768 / 171,768

Posting the maximum possible total score after each activation.

There are benefits to each way. Ripleys style is much easier to read and understand and quickly compare, however we face the problem of needing to do some math. If I get 5,764 after first squeeze and 171,768 after second, I need to read this thread and note that 4 more was possible on first, so 171,772 is second.

Vicromann's way takes less math in this manner, but you need to subtract and multiply right after you hit a squeeze. However you can have horrible 1st and 2nd squeezes, but get a new best 3rd squeeze and not need to worry about what your first 2 were.

Any opinions, or maybe another suggestion.

Once we figure this out I will redo the OP, and try to be as clear and concise as I can possible be and get the best notation I can get.

Thanks for responding guys =D.

I like Ripley's notation better - getting a good 3rd squeeze doesn't mean squat if your 1st and 2nd squeezes sucked. The way I see it, the only time you're going to squeeze is if you're going for a top score, so you're not really going to care what your 3rd squeeze is at that point if your first couple squeezes were bad to begin with - if you're smart you'll restart long before that point.

I am surprised there's not more resistance to the idea, though.

I'm not even sure how necessary it is, unless you're planning to completely replace the optimal paths thread with this one (that's a LOT of work when we're looking at almost 600 songs... even with many people contributing, that could take months to get caught up with just the official releases... and then there's RBN...).

There is absolutely no way we are doing every DLC song. First off there just isint the competition for most songs on DLC. If there is a truly popular song that people are having fun squeezing I may add it, but this is for the more importantly squeezed on disc, maybe RB1 imports, RB Beatles, etc. Things people may actually spend a bunch of time on.

I see absoutely nothing from RBN making this list unless some huge band randomly joins. I wasn't even going to do RB2 on disc since its so far after release, but I figure it's good to have the thread set up and running by the time RB:B comes out.

RB: Beatles is going to be a bear and a half because the optimal path may change based on how many singers you have available. :/ Not every phrase seems have to have parts for every harmony singer, so you might get more points in one place than another - we won't know for sure until we can figure out exactly how the double/triple Fab bonuses work.

Uhm unless I am out of the loop on this stuff, aren't we usually only keeping track of paths and squeezes for solo mode? Aren't the harmonies not in solo mode and won't be counted for solo scores.

Sure the bonuses change how multiplayer works, but who's grinding out 4 points in multiplayer.

We can talk about squeezes in harmony mode with multi player as well, but I wasn't even going to address that.

Please let me know if I am missing something obvious here =P,
