okay so i got Rock Band this morning like many others, and i set it all up and everything but when I plug in the microphone, it doesnt work, everything else works... am i missing something or is my microphone just dumb? [I didn't do anything to the microphone except take it out of the box unwind the cord and plug it in to the 4USB port adapter, and yes it is plugged in, and even if i plug it directly to my xbox is doesn't work.]

| I had the same exact problem, when I finally realized you're supposed to turn on a controller and plug the mic adapter into it, that should work. Dumb isn't it? |

Ha Ha, same thing here except i went so far as to buy a new aftermarket microphone to find the exact same problem. Figured it out by accident. Dammit.  |

I just have the Mic in the USB port, and a regular controller (NOT GUITAR)
Works for me.
