Not to hijack, but funny you mention that.

Note that until this happened, I had NO tape, NO pennies - it worked perfectly.

Last night, I cracked (yes... cracked) 2 of my pads - yellow and blue. The plastic under the rubber pads cracked right in the middle where the sensor is, and became somewhat unresponsive (if you watch some of the vids that Raunch posted from us playing last night, you can see some stupidly broken combos while riding on the blue pad - most notably in Timmy, and GGaHT, although not sure he posted that yet). I'm not sure why, but I have 2 other kits (neither of which work as a whole) that EA had sent me. I decided to perform some surgery.

I took of the blue and yellow pads, and went to replace them with blue and yellow pads from one of my other kits. Well, it turns out that they are 2 different versions (as we've all heard about). After some manipulation (switching out the rubber feet, switching out sensors, sawing off some plastic, etc.), I was about ready to go. The blue pad works perfectly, but the yellow misses - not often, but it does. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but when you're near the top of the leaderboards, EVERY note counts (as you know).

So, I decided to try the penny method. I honestly didn't see any improvement. Note that the yellow pad has TWO rubber discs in there. I tried numerous combinations - no rubber discs + penny, one rubber disc + penny (both touching the sensor and not), two discs + penny, etc. Still no luck.

Any ideas on what else to try? I have a request in with EA for ANOTHER kit. I'm praying to god that they send me another 2nd gen one as it was working perfectly before the pads cracked.
