The following is a Bass Gold Star Cutoff list for Rock Band. The cutoffs are also valid for the songs when playing in the sequel.
It was last updated just before Rock Band 2 was released.

I just 100%'ed Brass in Pocket and have the second highest score which is 102,032 (with 1st place being 102,300) and i didnt get Gold Stars. What does the math say it should be? I am very curious.

This is for Bass, right? (If it was Guitar, the cut-off is ~102,200 ... I flubbed the VERY end of it on Guitar and missed by about two hundred points myself.)
I've noticed (from the few songs I did yesterday in the first two tiers) that the Bass cut-off scores are BRUTALLY tight in a lot of songs - you need a full combo AND an optimal Overdrive path or you're going to fall short.
Anyway, since it's late at night and I REALLY gotta get some Zs here - tune in tomorrow. Since all three of the new songs fall into the first two tiers, they'll be the first ones I'll be adding to the Bass lineup at that point.

Your original multipliers with Guitar is what started me on this "holy crusade of mathmatical formulas." For that, Guitar 5* was ~3.21, and 5GS was ~4.88. Dividing those together got me the "Rule of 1.52x" (actually slightly above that), and it's held true within a reasonable deviation of error for every song it's been tested on. Bass is the same way:

You get 5* at ~68,800.
If the formula was 1.5x, the cut-off for Gold Stars would be ~103,200.
My score in that was 104,415 - No Gold Stars.
But by the "Rule of 1.52," the cut-off is ~104,576, so I missed it by a hair's breath.

5* is confirmed to be in between 47,272 - 47,421.
The "first ching" of 5GS is confirmed to be in between 71,938 - 72,087.
(The way the chart fell, there was a full second pause between notes and between the two chings.)
With those numbers, the multiplier for 5* to 5GS is between 1.517x and 1.525x. Nothing else is possible unless it varies from song to song, which it doesn't seem to do.
... sheesh. When the HECK did I turn into a math geek, anyway?

Regarding Brass In Pocket, the 5* for that is within the range of 68,001-68,150. Which means the Gold Star cut-off is somewhere between ... 103,361-103,588?!?
We may have another case of a DLC song being impossible to 5GS here. There are a few places where you get ONE extra note rapid-fired into a measure, but for the most part the whole thing is a uniform-speed of single strummings with no chance to maximize points by strategic use of Overdrive.
The only thing I can think of is MAYBE a 12x held note is worth more points than strumming the individual ones are? [Edit: No way. That seems to cost you a FORTUNE in points. So I think we can add this bad boy into the "can't be 5 Gold Starred" club.]

It's there to reward you for using Overdrive at optimal times ... and on Bass, the whole song is often just 'keeping the beat' giving you VERY few chances to do that. If those chances aren't there ... the Gold Stars are impossible. ~1.52x is just too much to ask for on Bass. If you break combo ONCE, it's already over on most songs.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of the default in-game songs can't be Gold Starred in Bass, much like Vasoline on Vocals. We'll see how it all shapes up.

Gold Star for Next to You on expert is 135,000 about. You need a FC and a decent overdrive path if you want the hopes of getting it.
Edit: Also, I believe it's impossible for either Tom Sawyer (My Score: 115,037) or Can't Let Go (My Score: 166,051) to be gold starred, having FC'ed them with a pretty good path, but to no avail. _________________

Well also, the multipliers are different when you have a big rock ending. (But always 1.52~ will be correct with or w/o BRE)

Please do. The "all-purpose formula" from 5* to 5GS is really only one piece of the puzzle - I'd like to see if ALL of it can make some sort of sense when it's all said and done.
And then there's the Vocal challenge - I don't know how we'll ever find a "magic formula" for that with the way the scores are tallied. People need to make more 5GS Youtube Videos for singing, darn it.

That's pretty much the "Bass Gold Star Mantra" right there. Maybe it'll get easier with the higher-tier songs, ironically enough, because they might have charts that vary more. But with few exceptions so far, if you break combo ONCE on a Bass track, kiss those gold stars goodbye.

Got 3 more bass songs for you
Dead on Arrival is between 170K-174K. My guess is 171K.
Brainpower is 96K, maybe 95K
Vasoline may be impossible to GS like it's vocal counterpart, as a FC with a score of 115653 is no good. _________________

This one is definitely going into the NO GOLD STAR ZONE. I just got 102,639 and no gold stars. I worked on it for a while too and i am 99% sure i took the optimal route. Man that is kinda silly not being able to get gold stars when you have the best score in the entire world, you know?
