Thrash Unreal is SO boring on guitar, but I still love the song. It's so awesome that The Killers ripped it off :p |
Thrash Unreal isn't even in the good half of Against Me!
I'm not one of those punk snobs that hates New Wave ( I actually like it), but Reinventing Axl Rose just blows the doors off of it. Plus, almost all of the songs on that album would be a blast to play.
Jordan's 1st Choice as the next Against Me! song, Harmonix? Plz? |

New Pornographers and the Funk stuff are the best drum-wise. (Sex Machine is a bit repetitive, but the other two are good) _________________

All the Things... is pretty basic on drums... has some fun bits but is mostly easy and a bit tiring on the right arm.
Use Me, on the other hand, is an absolute BLAST on drums, even if it wears out the LEFT arm more than anything this side of truckin' (exaggeration but still, it's tiring on the non-dominant hand).
Get Up was fun for about the first minute, then it got repetitive and I just had to keep going to work for that SRFC. 2114 note streak, IIRC o_0
Shining Star was the best for drums, with Pick of the Pieces splitting down the middle. Not as repetitve as get up, but not as varied and fun as shining star.
Last Resort... Hm. what's everyone's beef with this? I haven't listened to the song much ever, so I didn't notice much of a difference. In fact, playing the drum track, the first thing I said to myself was "wow, these drums sound really cool; what recording technique did they use for that?"
Anyways, as for the chart, it's fairly basic (missed only once in a semi-fast roll towards the end), but a fun song to just rock out to.
I saved Thrash Unreal for last because I actually needed to take time to remember the chart. It was fun, but nothing all that special.
goin to SR guitar now. |

Gotta be honest, Last Resort wasn't as bad as I expected based on the tears on the forums.
I kinda like the less processed sound. I guess I'm a weirdo. |

I played it on guitar. I guess upon second hearing I can tell a big difference. However, I'm with you. I actually /prefer/ this version to the original.
Anyways, pretty immemorable guitar this week. Shining Star is easily the highlight, in my opinion. Last Resort is much easier than tier 5, but is actually pretty fun. I like the chordy parts (I know I'm weird) and the rest is like an easier version of Are You Dead Yet? |

It sounds like a demo. Vocals are slightly off in multiple places. Guitar just sounds like an unpolished version.
Lifeline, on the other hand, sounds perfect.
Really the only reason I am really saying anything is because I really like Papa Roach (unlike most). I love the tracks, but I highly suggest staying away from Last Resort unless you like the song or you want another easy Expert Vocal FC.
Sidenote: Papa Roach was amazing live...the RB vocal track sounds worse than that. |
My theory is that the master that was sent to HMX was pre-production, before all the sound engineers went to work with their pitch correction and distortion effects that give the song such a snappy and recognizable sound.
And perhaps they're using Autotune in concert? A lot of artists do these days, and if the state of the Rock Band version is any indication, that's probably what's happening with Papa Roach as well.
The DLC version of the track seems to be off-key in a few places on lead vocals, and the backup vocals are horrendous. _________________

I only picked up Shining Star this week. My first impression was "meh," I only played it once and the strum-tastic rhythm put me off. Then, after a few other songs I came back to it and couldn't stop playing until I got the FC. It's fun on a bun and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. |
