Hi there,

I played CCS, and noticed around ~65% of the way through the song, my score ended in a 3, not the usual 0 or 5.

I did it a second time, and tried to pay more attention: I noticed it was just at the end of the instrumental break, before the vocals start again. That's probably a crap way to describe it though. As for ~65% of the way through, I'm basing that on my score at the time/final score.

Anyone else ever seen this? I'm guessing overdrive ran out in the MIDDLE of a note?

Yea it was discovered when the song first came out I believe.

What I remember it being was a drum pad sustain charted in the song.

There's a bug which makes the game treat one of the notes as a sustain. You can get ticks from it, but only if you hit it late (so it automagically gives you ticks from the first part of the "sustain" you missed, since drums don't recognise physical sustains). Very odd.

Serious advice now: No-one likes indecision in their work, so find what you like that you're even remotely good at, and stick with it. Don't flit from one thing to another, because that just smacks of a large lack of determination and drive. And people don't like you for that, and won't remember you for it. I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man.
I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday.

Indeed, I didn't think I found something undiscovered before, but I did notice the top scores posted don't have 3 or 8 as the final digit, so I was a little baffled.

Stoner music + late hits = 3 points. Yes!

(I also searched but found nothing about this. Perhaps I am bad at searching.)

The above posters are correct there is a hold. You can see it on ajanta's charts. However, I believe the hold note is covered up by a fill in the optimal path which is why the top scores end in 75.

Measure number? I've heard of this legendary hold drum note, but I've never actually seen it on a chart (or in game).

There's one Y/G hit (R/B for you righty flippers) that looks like it's half sitting on a fill. It looks VERY weird in-game.

Never seen one anywhere else... it's measure 76. Maybe that's it?
You could just hoard OD to see it for yourself.

Now that would be a sight!

Here's a chart ajanata generated to figure out what was going on (this is using the guitar method for a drum chart, so the colors are all wrong).

The sustain is in measure 60: http://ajanata.com/charts/temp/chinacat_drums_wtf.png
