Official site of the competition with rules, locations, times to be there, etc.:

Article showing some additional details:

I’m definitely going to one of them in Atlantic City. I’m sure a group of SHers can easily take the grand prize. Anyone else wanna go? _________________

Looks rad, but the age 21 up age restriction and round based nature (have to compete multiple times at the same location to qualify) of their setup would mean I'd have to align myself with or gin up some new mutant band to road trip to Bossier City. _________________

*Raises hand.
Seriously. $10,000? Let's get someguy in on this, find another G/B player, and roll. Of course, you've already got GHPhenom, f4phantom, blob, and JW2 in your area... _________________

But how many of them are over 21 (I assume the restriction is because these are all being done in casinos)?
So others don't have to figure it out, the locations are, in alphabetical order of state:
San Diego, CA
Council Bluffs, IA
Metropolis, IL (I thought they only named cities "Metropolis" in comic books?)
Elizabeth, IN
Hammond, IN
Bossier City, LA
New Orleans, LA
Kansas City, MO
St. Louis, MO
Tunica, MS
3 locations in Atlantic City, NJ (no wonder the article is covering that)
Las Vegas, NV
Chester, PA
None even remotely close to me, of course, but then again, how often to I play with people from the same place as me, anyways? But given that, I could easily see it costing a few thousand dollars to actually participate in the whole thing with 4 people. _________________

In retrospect, GHPhenom is probably not a viable choice, but I know JW is, so that would leave a drummer needed. Of course, this is all wishful thinking at this point. _________________

Hmmm... Atlantic City eh? That's the closest location to us NYC'ers. I'm interested and I'm sure Jak is too. We could probably aim for March 6th since it's a Friday and if we get a band together, we could chip in for a room (I get discounts ), gas (if we're not taking a bus), and such. This would be an awesome trip indeed! $10k is definitely worth it
All we need is a drummer and guitarist. Anyone down? I'd like to start planning this early on. _________________

This is a long shot, but... I'm within driving distance of Las Vegas (about 6-8 hours) so I could possibly make it to that one if there is a band going there in need of a top ranked bassist or competent guitarist.
Anyone else doing Vegas, let it be said. A $10,000 pool is too good to pass up. _________________

I'm in driving distance of Vegas too if you need vox. I'm definitely in for 10k split 4 ways. _________________

Quote: | Here's how it works: The competitions start on Wednesday, March 4, at Harrah's Eden Lounge, followed by Thursday, March 5, at the Sports Bar at Bally's, and Friday, March 6, at the House of Blues. They will continue each week on those same days at the respective casinos. Registration and warm-ups begin at 8 p.m., followed by competition at 9 p.m. |
This means that starting the week of 3/4, they will have a qualifier of sorts every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until the finals on May 7?
Quote: | Using the Rock Band scoring system and a predetermined difficulty level, bands will have more than 100 songs to choose from. |
Predetermined difficulty level? Meaning that they pick the difficulty level? And song? _________________

Interesting... If we can find a good drummer and another good guitarist, this could be an option. I can't find what date the Vegas location contest is though, anyone else able to find some official rules or anything? _________________
