Posted: Tue Nov 11, 2008 7:27 pm Post subject: PS2 Expert Drums Rivalry (upcoming releases) |
|
|
LFE and I have been a little burned out on RB1, so we're going to start up an expert drums rivalry for the upcoming PS2 releases (RB2 and Track Pack Vol. 2). Anyone else interested can certainly join. I don't really care what kind of rivalry it is (sightreads, GS, FC, career score, song-by-song, whatever), that's kind of what this thread is for... to gauge interest and work out details.
Of course we've all probably seen videos of the drum charts by now, so they wouldn't be true sightreads, but I think it'll be good enough if we all stop watching vids between now and reading through the charts for the first time.
So post here if interested and throw out some ideas for the type of rivalry you'd prefer. I kind of like the faux-sightread idea, at least to start, just because that's what I tend to have the most fun with. _________________

Count me in. I'm so sick of playing the 58 songs over and over again. Hopefully I'll get both for Christmas. |

Does anyone know when exactly RB2 is going to be available for PS2? I originally heard November 16 a few weeks ago, but today I went to the online rockband store and it says "ships on Jan. 5" while amazon.com says "will be released on Dec. 9."

So uh... you guys didn't give any suggestions for format... so I assume we're just going on sightreads for now?
If that's the case, ideally we'd all get the game the day it comes out and run all the songs once (doesn't take too long to run 20 songs... a couple hours maybe), then report back here with the end stats.
Thoughts?
EDIT: I just realized that the 17th falls on Monday rather than Sunday... wonder why they would change from Sunday to Monday for this particular disc. (Hasn't everything else been released on a Sunday thusfar?)
EDIT2: Also, what would be the policy with failing a song on the sightread, seeing as there's the possibility of failing something like "Perfect Drug?" _________________

Thoughts? | I think that'll be fine til everyone submits their scores. Thoughts on SR Fails? Just zero? _________________

Oooh, sounds fun. I don't have the patience (or energy) to play RttH, DftR, WGFA, DoA, and Outside over and over again, and improvements are coming slowly now, so this should be fun to mix it up. And I actually have a shot at scoring highly on the track packs. (Or more likely no one else cared about the first one...) So count me in.
Is it really coming out on Monday, though? I heard Tuesday some places. I know the first track pack came out a day or so later than people thought (scheduled for a Tuesday release and came out on a Wednesday, or some such -- definitely wasn't Sunday though.)We might just want to schedule it for the day after it comes out, once it's really known.
The only thing is that I'll probably play through (some of) the songs with my sister first, but I can play on guitar and she'd probably do medium on drums, so I don't think that would be an issue, esp. since it's a faux-sightread tournament.
Hopefully my cracked pads stay in good enough shape... I think they will...
I think fails should just count as 0, because it's not like we're going to have an exact tie in score anyway. I think you should list your % through the song, but it should count as a 0. _________________

Well the only problem with a zero score would be if everyone failed the same song on their sightread and we were going on a song-by-song basis. I don't see that happening, so a zero score is fine by me.
EDIT: After reconsidering, I guess it is within the realm of possibilities that we could all fail something like "The Perfect Drug" on our sightreads, but a score equal to your percentage doesn't really mean much of anything... so if you fail a song, write down the percentage you failed at just in case. It won't get you any points, but it will help in the event of a tie or something. _________________

Yeah, IGN also updated their release date from Nov. 18 to Nov. 17. So is this goin down tomorrow, then? If so, I'll try to pick it up after work. _________________
