|
|
Just did my weekly check of the spa.bin (translation file) in the DLC files, and it looks like an extra one showed up in there this week - "King Nothing", which is a Metallica song from their Load album.
Here's a youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3m4cypxU2I
This one's especially interesting to me because I didn't think there was any way we'd ever get more Metallica in RB, especially after Enter Sandman didn't make the jump to RB2.
Anyway, you know the drill, don't take it as official until properly announced, but being in the translation file has generally been a good sign in the past. _________________

Maybe HMX secretly makes the Metallica charts for themselves just so they can play Metallica on RB in spite of us.
Just a theory. But the hints keep rolling in... _________________

This would be nice, even though we were supposed to get "The Day That Never Comes" a long time ago. _________________

Isn't Fuel from the same album?
Maybe if this checks out there will be some hope for Fuel. _________________

Death Magnetic went to GH:WT, so that could be an explanation there. And yes, GH is also getting an entire Metallica expansion, but still. There may be hope yet. _________________

Fuel is from the album Reload, which also produced The Unforgiven II. _________________

Except for Schnitzer's "Received Your Letter," whose deal fell apart.
But anyway, yeah, it's been my speculation that Harmonix licensed a bunch of Metallica tracks before they likely became Activision exclusive for their own game. I'm sure there's more lined up. |

Are you fucking kidding me? Shit from Load? That is THE worst Metallica album.* If you like Fuel, you'll LOVE anything pre-Black Album. And King Nothing? Did they think transferring over Sandman would hurt sales of this? Because they're basically the same thing. Goddamn, this pisses me off.
*St. Anger just DID NOT happen.
side note: I was really pissed before reading this. I'm sure in the morning I'll be rainbows and hearts for this. _________________

Metallica is not a Guitar Hero exclusive. _________________

Hmm, and here I was beginning to think you all were a bit silly for still faithfully checking the innards of the files every week, even after the clues seemed to dry up post-leak-mishap from this spring.
Good find. Looks like I'll have... one more track to groan and hope to hell (in vain, I imagine) won't be picked 95% of the time in random online quickplay.
At least it's something new from the constant rotation of AJFA/Ride the Lightning/Blackened. Yeah yeah, I guess I can just not buy it... But, oh, completionism...
Will be good to see them still able to get Meatllica, nonetheless. _________________

Unless you have a very recent source for that, no one really knows. |

My source is that there is no source, ever, saying that they ARE a Guitar Hero exclusive. Hell, at E3 (or something) the big Guitar Hero announcement was that they have exclusive deals with Van Halen, the Eagles, and Aerosmith (correct me if I'm wrong). Don't you think they'd be waving Metallica around as well if they nailed them?
Plus, and I never saw this so it's only hearsay, I heard that Metallica had written on their website that they wouldn't be exclusive so as not to screw over their fans. _________________

Perhaps they're saving an exclusivity announcement for when they get closer to GH: Metallica's launch? Add to that, it probably looked like it would be a dumb announcement since upcoming (at the time) games RB2 and Rock Revolution each had a Metallica song already licensed. I can only speculate.
The fact is that every GH/RB band game so far (Aerosmith and AC/DC) has had franchise exclusivity explictly attached. And considering that Enter Sandman didn't transfer, RB never released the Death Magnetic single, and GH got the entire Death Magnetic album, it's not a huge leap to surmise that there very well may be an exclusive deal going on.
If there is exclusivity, it's likely under NDA right now. So we don't know. Enough evidence points to there being a likelihood though, contrary to what you may think.
My point is that there's no way to definitively state one way or the other right now. I have no idea if they're exclusive - that's why I said I thought it was "likely" in my speculation. And unless you're privy to licensing negotiations, you probably have no idea as well. |
