I figure charting drums will be relatively straight forward. I want to, however, get to work on getting vocals charted for some of my charts (probably going to start with "Tribute" and "Sweet Home Alabama")

What I'm hoping is that I can use Finale 2007 to help with this. I read and write in notation, so it will be relatively simple for me to get vocal pitches charted out (and relatively quick compared to charting other stuff).

As far as vowel recognition goes, do we know if that data is stored in the MIDI or is it somewhere else alltogether? I don't think it will be as simple as me saving a .MID from Finale and importing, but hopfully it's a workable start. I can see charting pitches in Finale and then bringing it into Anvil to smooth out vowels and bends and other events.

Yeah, vocals will definitely be lacking in most charts, I'll try to add them. My friend is already helping with drums so I'll have him help vocals too.

One thing that would help a lot is, when customs are able to be created, an easy guide to help people figure out how to chart them. I could see it helping clear a lot of confusion.

Or else the few vocal charters will probably get bombarded by help requests.

Another thing, does anyone plan adding drums, vocals and bass to an existing chart of their own or someone else's? There are a couple awesome Protest The Hero guitar charts that I want to eventually add other stuff to.

i plan on adding vocals and drums to my father time chart eventually, since it's already synced at 100% with guitar and bass parts

also because it's so freaking epic

My first 3 projects are:

- Zombie by The Cranberries
- Flathead by The Fratellis
- Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes

I think all those 3 are good on all instruments and vocals, and not too hard to create!

I don't think I'll remake one of my old guitar hero charts, perhaps if people request...

(I don't even have the game yet ^^)

Completely awesome stuff here.

Should definitely help those of us interesting in pre-charting (charting stuff before RB customs are available, that is )

Okay before I say anything let it be known that im probably the most untechnical person to visit this thread.

Anyway,I have yet to play Rock band since im waiting on the ps2 version.But...with all this talk about vocals in customs being hard,Why dont we just make all custom's be "freeform" or whatever songs like Sabotage do.I've read all you have to do is say the lyrics or somthing to that effect and that no pitch detection is involved. It sounds like "the easy way out" for vocals but atleast its somthing.

Anyone care to fill me in?

It's probably that it's easier to sing the right pitch than it is to get it to recognize what you're saying... I've done quite a bit of vocals (finished endless on hard), and well, I dread the non-pitch based words...

You can try it on my Divinity Within chart if you feel like it. I lack the patience and the hearing/pitch ability to chart drums and vocals.

I'm curious to know if there is any data for stuff like big endings or drum fills...

He uses a pedal and drops the tuning of the guitar to make it sound like a bass.

I know they don't have a bassist, but I'll just take the low part at the start as bass, that worked for my band when we covered it

If it doesn't work I still have a lot of songs I want to make beside these 3 ones

EDIT: The Guitarist has a 7th, lower string on his guitar which he uses for low parts (and he's using a pedal to drop the tuning of the guitar just like schwaby said) so he's a bassist and guitarist in one person, in Rock Band I'll split his part. Besides, on the second chorus there is a solo AND a bass sounding guitar so this should be fine
