Rock Band Pro Squier Guitar - buttons not working

It's been awhile since I've used my guitar, and I just pulled it out to play.
It is sensing the strings and frets fine, and I can navigate the screens with the Midi Pro adapter; however the buttons on the face of the guitar are not working (they do light up the LED blue lights when I push them though). Has anyone else experienced this, and can advise how to enable the buttons on the guitar to navigate?

Are you on Xbox 360 or Wii? One of the side effects of the Squire is the face buttons don't do anything on those consoles; you have to use the MIDI adapter buttons. Not sure about PS3, but from what I've heard they work on that console.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am on the Xbox 360. I'm glad to hear it. It's been so long since I played it, that I couldn't remember if they ever worked.
