I tried searching and could only find info on electronic kits so I signed up and am making my own thread and I hope this is the right place for it....

Basically I am somewhat decent at drums in rock band (still stuck on the last two songs in expert) and am thinking of getting a real drum set. I have the room and would like an acoustic set, but I don't want to spend a whole lot of money and so I am asking for opinions on what (if anything) to get. I don't plan on joining a band or anything like that, this is just something for my own amusement when I want to mess around without following a rock band note chart.

I found this Pulse-Pro 5 piece set with 3 cymbals (bass, snare, 3 toms, crash, ride, hi-hat) for $400 which seems to be about everything I would need for a decent beginner set for pretty cheap.

The reviews are kind of love it or hate it. It seems like most beginners love it, anyone with a shred of experience hates it. I'm thinking this is a good one for me to start out on and then if I hate it I'm only out $400.

Thoughts?

Anyone else been inspired by rock band to play real drums???

TIA,

Seems pretty solid but according to the reviews you might need to buy new heads.

not necessarily. those who have a gift with tuning can make nearly any heads sound great. stock heads are not a problem if you are a particularly good tuner.

just cause one buys new heads does not mean they will sound good. bad tuning is bad turning

tuning skills > best heads in world
