Since this is a public forum, I'm pretty sure this doesn't count as an insider advantage:
You'll probably do better getting four people both maintaining a streak and all deploying at the same time. The band multiplier is on top of each individual multiplier, and 32x for guitar and 48x for bass is nothing to sneeze at compared to the 8x-16x you'll get with broken streaks everywhere, especially if you extend your overdrive session with whammying and good timing.
Also, you mentioned in the Round 2 report that you need to play Hard in the BWT - you can actually "finish" BWT without ever having to go above medium, the hard gigs are the side quest equivilant of the BWT. |

We did have an awesome full x32/48 going for a while in Ballroom Blitz, undoubtedly contributing to our nice 1.2 million score.

Aye, we've been debating the merits of keeping those x32 and x48 multipliers going, even if we have to drop people to lower levels with fewer notes. I'm almost of the mindset where, if we have a song with tons of guitar (Cherub Rock? Highway Star?) it's almost worth having the drummer and singer drop to Medium or even Easy, if it means I can keep x32 going on Expert guitar and x48 going on Expert bass for long stretches. We keep playing and experimenting with different setups, which I think bodes well for Rock Band over the long haul if enough people get into it competitively -- there's a lot of strategy to the scoring system to consider.
As for the side quest thing -- I didn't realize that was the case. We've just been working our way through the game and trying to clear everything, and have been wondering if we'd have to do an entire performance on Expert at some point. Sounds like that's not the case.

Go Sluggo!
Good luck to every team though, the scoring system seems to be something to think about... personally I hate the whole karaoke aspect of the game. I for one am not really interested in having anyone singing the songs ever and less for having it affecting the band score. Oh well, there's still GH3 |

He's with HMX, posts every now and then on the Rock Band forums. And of course supplies us with the sexy blogs here and there. |

The latest episode of The 1up show features previews/impressions of Rock Band as well as showing the members behind Beard Rock. It's also pretty cool 'cause they specifically mention Scorehero and show snapshots of the Battle Of The Bands SH website.
Go to 1up.com then go to the 1UP SHOW link towards the top and you'll see it under LATEST SHOW. |

Yeah, agreed. Just watching the leaderboards isn't very fun, but hearing the players' take on what happened is fascinating. I liked reading Gamespy's write-up of the first round and reading sluggo's posts, and based solely on those write-ups I'm rooting for them. sluggo, please encourage more Gamespy write-ups and keep on posting.
Maybe I'm just silly to think that all these online publications should, you know, publish something. _________________

Actually, I did another writeup this week on Round 2, spending some time discussing the scoring system.
Turns out we didn't realize how close we were to completing the World Tour -- we still have dozens of available gigs, but there was one event that was basically the big finale, which we completed last night (and indeed, playing on Medium was an option). We still have tons of star ratings and fans we can go after, however, which I imagine is what will keep people playing the World Tour (in pursuit of top spots on the leaderboards), and we're debating attempting the Endless Setlist (all 58 songs in a row) either today or next weekend. _________________
