Is it okay if I post scores for songs that I acquired by downloading them from... certain sites? I do not ever intend to do this with currently available songs, just expired songs as a means of obtaining songs I would not otherwise be able to obtain.

And yes, I am pretty sure the answer is no, but I just want to confirm.

No, it's not permitted to post any custom scores, even if the chart is supposedly identical.

For the record its also not ok to post instructions or link to those charts, even if the songs are delisted. To further clarify - if someone makes their own custom chart from scratch of a song that is delisted, its ok to post that in customs (but obviously dont post scores for it) but if someone rips/copies a delisted chart, that is definitely unacceptable for the customs database and to link to, especially as Harmonix has been relicensing things lately.

Is license transfer sharing fine, though, since those are the charts?

Yes, those are the same exact same dlc files, in no way modified, and effectually it's the same action as redownloading the songs. Besides, how would someone police who owns the license to what songs anyways? Not like you'd ever be expected to take a picture of your download history or something absurd like that.

Yeah - if you get it from account sharing, the score is ok to post. Just not if it's installed as a custom.

not gonna say how as its fairly easy to use the google search function, but playing a RBN exclusive 360 songs on ps3 net the same notes, same points, same base score as its original. would that be considered a custom or invalid score ? how would someone notice it's not the real deal even with photoproof ?

It is hard to detect, but it has been a long standing rule (since before I was here even) that for many reasons you cannot enter any custom scores at all, and that anything not officially acquired is considered custom, even if the chart is identical.

I'm sure you know what i'm talking about, but it's just a conversion to able to play the chart on ps3. rb3 to rb3. not that I care but it's a route I thought about since all RBN were down on 360 couple months ago but they should be back up, for now.

It's just a Pandora's Box we don't want to open. Any chart which has at any time had the ability to have been edited by anyone outside of HMX, even if it has not been edited, cannot have a score posted to SH.

It's kinda like buying an item from the grocery store with the seal broken. It could be completely fine, but you don't know for sure, so the store isn't going to sell items with the seal broken.
