I seem to have a lot of trouble this these two phrases. The first one I rarely get Awesome on (seriously, why can't Strong count toward FCs like yellow flashes in GH:WT), and the second I have yet to hit in a real run. This is because the word landslide has a low note on the second syllable. _________________

I'd have to see/hear you trying to sing it, this part should be super easy, too, so I'm curious where it goes wrong.
After the "land" section, "slide" should put you into a simple major scale. If you're limited by range, I'd recommend starting the phrase in falsetto and singing the lower portions in your normal voice. That said, I recommend avoiding falsetto except as a last resort - it's bad for your voice, and sounds like garbage. It can help people hit stuff, at the cost of endurance.
On this song in particular, the calibration is incredibly tight, and the pitch lines are very very small. Since a ton of people do sing this part incorrectly, I imagine there's plenty of folks who "mis-remember" the lead vocal tones, and how they fit into the harmonies. Make sure you're not off a tone, as those harmonies are thick.
You should be able to find the isolated lead vocals for this somewhere, or use RB3's pitch tool to nail it down (not sure if this tool is in RB4).
Edit: Something else to take into consideration if you have a deeper voice, is that those low notes are going to require quite a bit more accuracy. The higher an octave you sing in, the "closer" together the notes are. You could also try adding a 2nd/3rd microphone and adjusting calibration of course. |
