Well, here's a kick in the teeth for a lot of us: https://twitter.com/RockBand/status/649292346421604352
There is no select button activation on guitar for the PS4. There is only tilting.
It's far too late to back out now, but it's seriously disappointing. It's pretty much put a dampener on the whole PS4 competitive scene.

Wonder if the drum pedal OD trick still works. Not a replacement for the select button, but still better than tilting?

There's no port for the drum pedal on the new guitars.

I always used to, but then it was a god awful RB1 strat that got me into select activating in the first place due to a broken (or stupidly insensitive) tilt. Then I had a GH5 guitar and never looked back. Strange that it's another strat that gets me back into tilting to activate.

Yup one of the RBRC was streaming on PS4 and used his MPA with Rolands and it worked perfectly.

That's good to hear. I will probably still mostly use the new stock kit at first though.

Not entirely true: PS4 guitars can't do it (Share button instead of Select button, which can't be mapped to for obvious reasons) but PS3 guitars still can with their select buttons, so competitive PS4 lives on.

Yeah that's what I was going to say. It won't stop people from playing competitively, it will just stop competitive players from purchasing the new guitars. I think they dropped the ball on this one assuming there isn't some huge cost in implementing another method that I'm not thinking of.
